plan to make jails more secure
Chandigarh, June 23
In an attempt to make the jails
more secure, the Prisons Department of the Punjab Police is
identifying and transferring officials posted at the same jail for
over five years. Though the officials in the Punjab Police
Headquarters are maintaining strict silence over the issue,
the sources claim that the process of transferring jail
wardens in the state has been initiated.

A loan defaulter and his family
members today assaulted and injured the visiting
Tehsildar-cum-Executive Magistrate, Dr K.S. Randhawa, revenue
officials and the District Manager of the Khadi Board when they
reached their home to collect the loan, here today.

to conduct PMET on July 25
Ludhiana, June 23
The Punjab Government has issued
a notification for conducting the Pre-Medical Entrance Test (PMET)
2004, for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS and BHMS courses in government
and private medical institutions of the state. The PMET will be
conducted by the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot on
July 25.

against a dozen rolling mill owners of Mandi Gobindgarh who have been
accused of selling adulterating furnace oil received from major oil

Orissa and a student from Jammu were today fleeced by four Railway
