Summer camp concludes

Sat Paul Mittal School was abuzz with activity today on the concluding function of the 14-day summer camp organised here. The children were exposed to the world of music, art, painting, clay-modelling, pot painting, marble painting, creating best out of waste and dramatics. The highlight of the function was a short play ‘The Pied Piper of Hamelin’. TNS

Blood donation camp by civic defence unit

Ludhiana, June 8
Civil Defence Division No 5 and the District Red Cross Society jointly organised a blood donation camp at Pahwa Dharamshala in Upkar Nagar locality here yesterday. More than 100 units of blood were collected by a team of doctors at the camp. Mr H.S. Rana, Deputy chief of Civil Defence, was the chief guest.

According to the divisional warden, Dr Rajinder Chugh, the unit had organised the first blood donation camp from out of a series to be held in near future.

He explained at length various other public welfare measures to be taken by the unit.

All functionaries of the unit made their contribution to make the blood donation camp, a big success. Prominent among others present were Mr Vijay Dhingra, Ms Dipti Dhingra, Ms Vineet Khurana, Mr Kulwinder Singh Mann, Mr Sunil Sehgal, Mr Vikram Grover, Mr Niteesh Kumar, Mr Puneet Batra, Mr Rakesh Grover, Mr Jatinder Dhingra, Mr Puneet Sahni, Mr Jiwan Mohindroo, Mr Sanjeev Chitkara and Mr Partap Singh Rana.

KVM school shooters shine

Shooters from the local Kundan Vidya Mandir School gave fine performance clinching 11 medals, including two gold and six silver in the 13th Ludhiana District Rifle Shooting Championship held at the Markfed Shooting ranges, Mohali on June 5 and 6.

The medal winner students are: air pistol 15SF (men)- Rishabh Marwaha won a silver in the individual event; Pankaj Sharma bagged second position in the air rifle open sight (junior men); Guriqbal Singh secured a gold medal in the air arifle open sight for sub-junior men while team consists of Guriqbal Singh, Shantanu Asthana and Aditya won the gold medal in the team event.

In the air rifle open sight (junior women), Shivi Bansal annexed the silver medal and the team of Sargam Marwaha, Pallavi and Shivi Bansal helped their school to finish runner up in the team event.

Tanya Singhania fought well in the air rifle for sub-junior women event but had to contend with the bronze medal while in the air pistol (junior men), Neeraj Bhanot and Sandeep Gupta won the silver and bronze medals, respectively. Team comprising of Neeraj Bhanot, Sandeep Gupta and Rishabh Bhanot clinched the gold medal in the team event.

In the sub-junior category (air pistol), Shantanu Asthana won the second spot in the individual event while the team of Shantanu Aditya and Ank Dhanda won the silver medal in the same event. In the air pistol (sub junior women), the KVM School made a clean sweep winning all the three medal at stake. Jasleen, Mehak Gupta and Aakriti won the gold, silver and bronze medals, respectively.
