CMC management’s bid to defuse crisis

Ludhiana, June 7
In response to the brewing resentment among a section of employees of Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) over issues like privatisation of some departments and proposed switching over to single supplier system for its pharmacy, the management of the institution today initiated attempts to reach out to the peeved employees and bridge the communication gap.

The Indian Christian Welfare Society had submitted a memorandum to the CMCH management, while the Brown Memorial Hospital Employees Union had also expressed its reservation about the change in the supply system for medicines to the in-house pharmacy.

The CMCH director, Dr Silas Charles, addressed a series of separate meetings with all categories of employees during the day and concluded the extended interaction with a meeting of Class I employees, which included faculty members and senior members of the administration.

In the course of free exchange of views, Dr Charles assured the employees that the management was alive to their genuine problems and open to suggestions, which could pave the way for development of the institutions and better employer-employee relations.

It was officially stated that Dr Charles was due to meet a deputation of the Indian Christians Welfare Society to discuss the points raised by them in the memorandum and to initiate necessary remedial measures, if called for.

Amita, Gurjit win shooting titles

Amita Rani and Rajbir Sidhu in the women’s section while Gurjit Singh in the men’s section hogged limelight clinching two gold medals each in the Ludhiana District Rifle Shooting Championship held on June 5 and 6 at the Markfed Shooting Ranges, Mohali. Amita Rani bagged the first position in open sight air rifle team and individual and peep sight air rifle individual events while Rajbir Sidhu annexed gold medals in sports pistol and air pistol individual and team events. Gurjit Singh proved his metal in the men’s section when he secured a brace winning top honours in open sight standard pistol and air pistol individual and team events.
