Students learn pottery, calligraphy

Ludhiana, May 31
A week-long creative workshop organised by Kala Sadhana to promote art and culture at Sacred Heart Convent Senior Secondary School here concluded yesterday. An exhibition showcasing various creations of the students marked the workshop. The school students learnt pottery, painting, photography and calligraphy.

A unique thing about the workshop was that age was no bar and one could see mothers and children participating in same workshops with enthusiasm.

Some art works of Hardeep Singh, a physically challenged youth, were also on display and were apprecaiated. Ms Sangita Kushwaha, coordinator of Kala Sadhana, said another workshop would be held on Rajasthani folk dance in the month of July.

‘Cool School’ camp for children

‘Let us get wet’ party was organised for the children attending the ‘Cool School’ camp for kindergarten children at BVM School here yesterday. Nearly 50 students attended this party in which they had fun splashing water at each other and getting wet under fountains.

Different kinds of bhangra

To make students aware of their rich culture and heritage, several folk dances and different kinds of bhangra are being taught to the students of Bhartiya Vidya Mandir, Kitchlu Nagar, during a 10-day summer camp. The students are learning single jindwa, double jindwa, khulla bhangra, jugni, angudha bhangra, jhumar, shisha, luddi and syalkoti steps from bhangra experts.
