CCS varsity all set to conduct CPMT

Preparations are on here for the Combined Pre-Medical Test (CPMT) scheduled to be held on Sunday, May 30, at various centres of 18 cities throughout Uttar Pradesh. The prestigious CPMT is being conducted by Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut (CCSU), the first time this year. As many as 750 seats of MBBS, 1140 seats of BDS, 300 seats of BHMS, 370 of BAMS and 80 seats of BUMS are to be filled through the CPMT. These seats includes those in six medical colleges at Kanpur, Agra, Allahabad, Meerut, Bareilly, Jhansi, and Gorakhpur.

Keeping the risk of question paper leak of various prestigious examinations, including IIM, AIIMS and CBSE in the past in mind the CCSU is taking foolproof measures to ensure a fair examination, disclosed the Vice-Chancellor, Dr R. P. Singh. He said he was in touch with the Vice-Chancellors of other universities in the state over the conduct of examination and their important suggestions had also been included in the plan. Dr Ram Pal Singh also said that more than 85,000 boys and girls had applied this time which was a record.

The VC also added that 18 nodal centres had also been set up to conduct the examination while a round-the-clock control room had also been established on the CCSU campus to meet any contingency.

Commenting on advertisements by various coaching institutes in this regard, he said action had already been taken against such dubious coaching institutes over the security measures during the exam. Dr Singh also said the government had already issued directions to all District Magistrates and SSPs to impose Section 144 of the CrPC around the examination centres to prevent any unlawful assembly. Dr R. P. Singh also asserted that university was committed to conducting a fair examination.

Meanwhile, a special secretary of the state government had already ordered all DMs and SSPs to beef up security in and around the examination centres since May 27 onwards. All senior administrative and police officials had been directed to review the security measures. The VC said the university had also pressed its observers and inspectors into service. The VC also said duplicate admit cards could be taken from the 18 nodal centres from May 28. The centres were at Agra, Aligarh, Allahabad, Bareilly, Faizabad, Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Kanpur, Lucknow, Meerut, Moradabad, Noida, Saharanpur, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Dehra Dun and Muzaffarnagar.

Asmi ties up with Wigan Fashion School

The student designers of the Wigan Fashion College were given a chance to design a special range of clothing for modern Indian working women using inspiration from the core brand value of Asmi-‘reflects your inner fire’.

One round dedicated to Asmi, also recognised these young students’ talent by showcasing their designs and talent, through a fashion show held here. Asmi diamond jewellery honoured two young female students who came up with the finest designs. This year, the fashion show has been named ‘Quintessence-2004’.

Wigan Fashion School is dedicated to infuse creativity and a professional outlook in their students who are inclined towards design. Asmi’s association with these young students, who will soon enter the Indian fashion industry, is an ideal way for the students to express their inner fire through their designs.

FDCI director completes tenure

The executive director of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), Mr Vinod Kaul, completes his tenure with the organisation on May 31, this year.

During his two-year tenure with FDCI, Kaul successfully met all objectives set by the FDCI board at the time of his appointment. The last two years also witnessed various milestones in the Indian fashion industry, including designer-corporate tie-ups, and opening of designer pert section by leading retail chains like Pantaloons, Shoppers Stop etc.

Top-notch professionals in the fashion industry came together in December 1998 to form the Fashion Design Council of India, which is a non-profit organisation. The council, set up to consolidate the position of the Indian fashion industry in the global marketplace, embodies the first step taken towards according corporate status to the fashion business in India.

Its primary objective is to provide a cohesive platform for Indian designers and act as the mouthpiece of the industry on all relevant platforms, in a bid to promote Indian fashion both at home and abroad. FDCI, the apex body representing the fashion design industry, is actively involved in promoting the business of fashion in India.

Job guaranteed courses

Maharishi Institute of Management has introduced four job guaranteed residential programmes of Maharishi University of Management and Technology. The programme is available at all the seven institutes of management of the University from July 2004 with a capacity of 2,000 students.

The Maharishi Institute of Management had been the first institution in the country to introduce capsules of Maharishi Vedic Management in the MBA Programme. The institute claims that even the corporate world is convinced of the utility of Maharishi Vedic Management (stress Management) capsules.

IACM becomes Microsoft certified partner

The Institute of Advance Computing and Management (IACM) will now be entitled to operate as a Microsoft Certified Partner for Learning Solutions.

The institute today announced its entry into Microsoft’s learning solutions program.

With its proven competencies on delivering IT training on Microsoft technologies, it will now be entitled to operate as a Microsoft Certified Partner for Learning Solutions, that was earlier known as Microsoft CTEC.

MAIT workshop

Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (MAIT), Rohini, organised a short-term faculty development workshop for engineering college teachers of different engineering disciplines last week.

Chairman, Maharaja Agrasen Technical Education Society, Mr Nand Kishor Garg, presided over the function.

Garg laid emphasis on providing training to teachers of engineering colleges so that they are able to groom the students to become good professionals.

He said that the number of technical institutions had doubled in last five years and quality education was the need of the hour. The director of the Institute, Maj S.C. Goel, spoke about the routine problems faced by teachers in the field of engineering and also talked about ways to solve them.

APPIN offers courses

Approaching Infinity (APPIN), a knowledge solutions company, is offering hi-end courseware, specialist knowledge and expertise in all-round development, mentoring, guidance and industry exposure to the students to excel in their careers.

The organisation has been started by students of topmost engineering colleges like the IIT Delhi, IIT Mumbai, IIT Kharagpur, and several others.

Women polytechnic announces admissions

For the students who wish to pursue various vocational training programmes after finishing school, the Polytechnic for Women in South Extension has announced admissions.

Among the programmes offered by the institute are fashion designing, beauty culture and hairdressing, journalism and mass media, marketing, advertising and pubic relations and a professional diploma in business management.

Admissions are based on first come first serve basis and the last date of applications is June 30. Applicants should have cleared their 10+2.

The polytechnic claims to be equipped with the latest in technology and coaching is imparted using developed educational technological resources.
