Mohsin Kamil stars in DPS’s trophy triumph
Our Sports Reporter

New Delhi, May 10
A scintillating knock of 100, off 52 balls, with 13 fours and seven sixes, by Mohsin Kamil helped Delhi Public School (DPS), Mathura Road defeat Modern School, Barakhamba Road, by five wickets and lift the second SG Turf Youth Cup Cricket Tournament at the Modern School ground.

Electing to bat first, Modern School tumbled for 178, off 48 overs. Jagrit Anand struck a half-century to emerge the top-scorer for Modern. Harshit took two early wickets, and then left-arm spinner Ankit Singh scalped three wickets for 24 runs in his ten-over spell to wreck Modern’s batting lineup.

In reply, DPS were propelled by Mohsin Kamil’s breezy century. The contest would have become much more closer had not the Modern fielders spilled too many catches. Once Mohsin was caught off the bowling of left-arm spinner Luv Shorey, DPS lost four wickets in quick succession, for the addition of just 30 runs. But DPS managed to overhaul Modern’s total to reach 179 for 5 in 29.5 overs.

Mohsin Kamil was named the man of the final as well as the man of the tournament while Manan Sharma received the best batsman of the tournament award. Ankit Singh was presented the best bowler award.

Scores: Modern School: 178 all out in 48 overs (Jagrit Anand 51, Luv Shorey 35, Harshit Sharma 2 for 35, Ankit Singh 3 for 24). DPS: 179 for 5 in 29.5 overs (Mohsin Kamil 100, Shivam Sharma 29, Luv Shorey 2 for 40).
