Chandigarh, April 11
A club fitting day was held at the CGA Golf Range, Kishangarh, where fitting specialist Colin Field Ping helped professional golfers Harmet Kahlon, Gursimran Sethi, Karan Singh and amateurs Girish Virk, Rahul Baskshi, Tarun Ghau and Abhijeet Chadha get custom fitted for irons and woods. Colin has also trained golfers from various countries of Asia, Australia and Japan.
For the driver, a launch monitor was used which gave the using swing speed, spin rate and ball speed. It helped in maximising the distance of driver by selecting the correct loft and shaft a player requires.
Mr J.S. Cheema, Chairman, Hero Honda CGA Golf Academy, said they discussed long-term strategy with Mr Colin Field so as to have better ties in future.
Mr Jesse Grewal, Director of the academy, impressed upon the players that club fitting is an important but ignored part and custom fitted clubs greatly benefit a player and help in hitting the ball straighter and longer.
Chess Meet:
Rishu bagged girls title in the under-19 UT girls chess meet organised by the Chandigarh Chess Association here today at St Kabir School, Sector 26. Shewta, a Rashpal Kaur and Pallak Grewal won second, third and fourth place, respectively. Top four player will represent the UT in the forthcoming national chess championship to be held at Calicut from May 10.
The following is the final point position: Rashpal Kaur (2.5) drew Rishu Rathi; Shweta (3) b Pallak Grewal; Aashna (2) b Kritika (2); Khushboo (1) lost to Skikha (1); Srishti Jain (2) got bye.
