NCERT seminar
on innovative practices begins New Delhi, March 31 The seminar is being organised with the aim of encouraging innovative practices and providing practical solutions in the field of education and beyond. Organised by the Department of Teacher Education and Extension, the programme has been an annual feature aimed at promoting the spirit of research and innovative practices in the field of education amongst teachers. The project, the NCERT points out, “attempts to reward and motivate the teachers and teacher educators for their successful practices and experiments in practical teaching through innovative ideas”. It was further added, “The awards also create awareness among teachers to improve education at the primary level to senior secondary level. This motivates the teachers to adopt a scientific approach in identifying problems and finding out the solutions and further experiment for improvement in their respective fields”. The seminar, which was inaugurated by Prof M. S. Khaparde, Joint Director, NCERT, is being attended by more than 50 teachers, teacher educators and experts from the field of education from across the country. The award winning projects besides different themes on
novel practices and ideas will be discussed in the seminar. |
Campus T he Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology is going to introduce two new courses of Management and Engineering from this semester. The management of the institute took the decision after successful completion of five years.A team of four representatives of the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) visited the Maharaja Agrasen Institute recently to inspect its infrastructure. The team led by Prof. S Laxminarayanan was highly impressed with the infrastructure. The institute has over 23,000 square meters built up area with six institutional blocks. The imposing building consists of 51 laboratories with an impressive computer lab. The chairman of the institute, Mr Nand Kishor Garg, informed the team that this year some well-known corporates had visited the institute for campus placement. ‘Kshitij –The Horizon’ The Jagannath International Management School
celebrated its inter college annual cultural festival-‘Kshitij -The
Horizon’ from March 26 to March 27. Students from various colleges
affiliated to the Indraprastha University, the Delhi University and
other professional institutes participated in the festival. The festival
was witnessed by a large number of media personalities and other
dignitaries. The institute wore a festive look on the occasion. The
programme included a rich variety of dances, plays, instrumental music
and other assorted items. The students participated in large numbers in
all the events. The festival was aimed at bringing the hidden talents
of the students to the forefront through events like solo dance,
instrumental music and street plays. In addition, events like creative
writing and Ad-mad show were also organised to test the media awareness
and understanding of the participants. The chairman of the Institute,
Amit Gupta, announced on the occasion that from the next session, a
number of new programmes like MBA in International Management, PG
diploma in Public Relations etc would also be started.
FIIB placed 90
% of its students The Fortune Institute of International Business (FIIB)
got big success in placing as many as 90 percent of their students in
various big companies. The institute got the success due to 42 percent
rise in the exports in the last fiscal year. The institute announced its
success during its convocation, where 120 students got their diploma on
completing their two-year PG diploma course in International Business.
Dr. C Rangarajan, Chairman of the 12th Finance Commission and former
Governor of Andhra Pradesh, was the Chief Guest at the function. He said
that FIIB had carved a niche in a short span of time in management
education. He appreciated the foresight of the institute in providing
education in international trade. In a detailed lecture on management of
globalisation, he talked about various demands of multilateral trading
system for developing countries, including India and developed
countries, like effective restraint on industrialised countries in
initiating anti-dumping and countervailing action against exports from
developing countries.
Bhagat Singh annual day Shaheed Bhagat Singh
College celebrated its annual day on its campus in South Delhi. The
principal of the college highlighted the achievements of the college
students during the academic session and distributed prizes to the
students with outstanding performance. Major Dalbir Singh, the
chairman of the managing committee, asked the students to strive hard
and prepare for challenges ahead. He said that the youth has the onerous
responsibility of shaping the destiny of the nation.
Paristhiti
04 The Bharti Vidyapeeth Institute of Management & Research organised
Paristhiti 04, a two-day national case writing and presentation
competition on March 25-26, 2004. The chief guest at the function was
Mangat Ram Singhal, the Minister of Industries, Land and Labour, Delhi
Government. He encouraged and congratulated the BVIMR family on
conducting such national level events and stated that excellence in a
competitive world depends entirely on what has been imbibed in the
institute. The Director of the Institute, Dr S S Vernekar, stressed on
the relevance of case study methodologies in management education, which
assist in structuring strong analytical expertise.
Business school
convocation The Amity Business School, Noida, held its sixth
convocation for the graduates pursuing different courses in the
institute. Amar Singh, Member of Parliament, said, “I am not here for
votes or financial gains but as a mentor for the future generations.” He
said that no body in the world possesses both money and mind, but Dr
Chauhan was an exception. Dr. Sanjay Paswan, the Minister of State for
HRD, commented: “The need of the hour is to develop such strategies, so
that you can develop the potential of our students. Our country has
always been ahead in knowledge, value systems and thought process.
Brainstorming
at ASUM The Amity School of Urban Management (ASUM) organised a brain
storming session on `Emerging Contours of Urbanisation and requirement
of new skills and expertise in this field’ recently. The session was
attended by over 30 administrators, professors, experts and urban
planners. The participants felt that it was time for professional
managerial cadres in ULBs. They further observed that small, medium and
large ULBs would require different levels of managerial skills. Dr Ashok
Kumar Chauhan, Founder president, Ritnand Balved Educational Foundation
(RBEF), an umbrella organisation for the Amity Institutions,
acknowledged the valuable contribution made by senior professionals
working in this field.
Huge scope in bioinformatics The
supercomputing facility of India’s premier institution, IIT Delhi and
NIIT, have joined hands to create an intensive learning programme in the
sunrise bioinformatics field. The cutting edge curriculum, to be
offered under the aegis of Foundation for Innovation and Technology
Transfer (FITT), at IIT Delhi would equip a select number of science
post graduates to build exciting careers in the fast growing world of
bioinformatics. Engineering and medical graduates will also be eligible
to enroll for this unique programme. Speaking on the occasion, Prof.
RS Sirohi, Director, IIT, Delhi, said, “The new millennium has ushered in
rapid advances in bio-sciences, creating a deluge of information on
genomics and proteomics with several scientific and technological
challenges and opportunities. Any progress in this direction is of
immediate relevance to society. The quest to meet these challenges
creates a huge demand for highly skilled bioinformatics professionals. |
Charge sheet filed against former DVB inspector New Delhi, March 31 The
agency filed the charge sheet against Ashok Kumar Raswant (the then
Inspector at DVB’s R K Puram office) in the court of Special Judge
Pratibha Rani. The CBI alleged that Raswant amassed assets worth Rs
17,78,619.27 between August 19, 1974, (the date of his joining DVB as a
meter reading inspector) and January 2, 2002, (the date of the raid at
his residence) disproportionate to his known sources of income. The DVB
has since been privatised. Raswant was an inspector at the BSES
Rajdhani Power Ltd at Kilokari when the CBI raided his house. According
to the agency, Raswant had acquired three houses in Sector IV, Rohini,
besides a plot in Khasra apart from other assets. The inspector’s wife
is a laboratory assistant in the Directorate of Health Services since
1976, the agency said in the charge sheet. |
