Subash to take on Uday in u-14 final

Chandigarh, March 26
Alisha Talwar and Navinder Pal Singh upset their respective opponents in the semi-finals of the under-18 girls and boys section, respectively, on the penultimate day of the AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament at CLTA Tennis Stadium, Sector 10, here today.

Earlier, fourth seed Subash Rao of Delhi defeated Gurmohit Singh in the boys under-14 singles semi-final. Subhash recorded a 6-3, 6-0 victory. He would meet second seed Uday Karan Singh Puniha for the title tomorrow. Uday beat Ankit Sachdeva of Delhi 7-5, 5-7, 7-5.

In the girls under-18 semi-final, top seed Isha Toor of Chandigarh lost to Alisha Talwar of Punjab, third seed, 5-7,4-6. In girls under-14 semi-finals, fourth seed Navjot Saini of Punjab downed Ankit Raina of Gujarat 6-2, 6-3 while Shweta Solanki of Delhi prevailed upon Ankita Singh of Chandigarh 6-3, 6-2.

Cricket trials

Chandigarh Cricket Association will hold under-17 selection trials at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 19, grounds on March 28. Only players born after September 1,1987, are eligible.

Delhi Audit beat AG Haryana

Chandigarh, March 26
Hosts AG Haryana went down fighting to Delhi Audit 4-5 (tie-breaker) through penalty shootout in the final of the North Zone IA and AD Football Tournament at Football Stadium, Sector 17, here today. Both teams were 1-1 in full-time.

Rishi Pal of Delhi Audit was declared best player of the tournament. Mr Ashwini Attri, Accountant-General (Audit), Haryana, and Mr Deen Dayalan, Accountant-General, Haryana, gave away the prizes.
