‘Hockey team need improvement’ New Delhi, March 10 Mr Malhotra expressed his dismay at the team’s performance against Canada in the last pool match as after leading by 4-0, they conceded as many goals to the Canadians, “exposing the weakness in the defence and lack of sustainability”. He said he would discuss the matter with the officials of the Indian Hockey Federation on the method to be adopted for effecting improvement in the team. Mr Malhotra said it was, however, a great relief that the hockey team, along with the men’s and women’s archery teams, were the first to qualify for the Olympic Games. Athletics, shooting, swimming, wrestling and weightlifting teams have also qualified for the Olympic Games. Mr Malhotra said he would soon convene a meeting of the Olympic Preparation Committee to review the situation. |
