Women’s college holds contests Ludhiana, January 31 In mock conference, MTSM College for Women stood first. In the individual category, Deepshikha of MTSMC for Women came first, Nitin of GGN Khalsa College stood second while Jyotsna of MTSMC came third. The consolation prize was won by Deepak of Kamla Lohtia SD College. In on the spot programming, Manpreet Kaur and Poonamdeep Kaur of Ramgarhia College for Women came first, Neelam Goyal and Tejwinder Kaur of MTSMC for Women stood second, and Gagan Goyal and Hitesh Sharma of Kamla Lohtia SD College were declared third. In the model-making competition, MTSM College for Women was first, and Sant Kartar Singh Kamalwale School, Salem Tabri, stood second. In the advertisement writing contest (inter-college), Nera Arora of Khalsa College, Civil Lines, came first, and Neha Jain of MTSM College for Women came second. In the inter-school competition, Rajni of BVM School came first, and Prince Sharma of Sanatan Vidya Mandir was declared second. In the embroidery contest (inter-college), Manpreet of Guru Nanak Khalsa College was first, Amarjeet Kaur of Guru Nanak Khalsa College was second and Pawanpreet of Government College for Women came third. In the inter-school embroidery competition, Nisha of Sargodha School came first and Paramjeet of Government High School came second. In the inter-college rangoli, Divya of Khalsa College was declared first, Chetna of Ramgarhia College was second, and Gurpreet of Government College was third. The consolation prize was won by Ekta of MTSMC for women. In the inter-school rangoli competition, Sonia of SVM School was first and Manisha of BVM School was second. In inter-college salad-making competition, Manisha Jain of GCW was first, Neha Ahuja of GCW came second and Salony of Ramgarhia College was declared third. In the inter-school competition, Kavita of SVM School stood first and Deepika of SVM School came second. In the inter-college pudding competition, Tejinder Kaur of MTSMC for Women won the first prize, Sakshi of Government College for Women came second and Karn Kanchan of MTSMC for Women was third. In the inter-school pudding competition, Isha of SVM School came first. In collage-making competition, Dalwinderjit Kaur of Ramgarhia College came first, Manpreet Kaur of Mata Ganga Khalsa College, Kottan, came second while Gaganpreet Dhami of Government College for Women was declared third. In portrait drawing, Varinder of Government College for Women came first, Anu of Khalsa College for Women was second and Pardip Kaur of MTSMC for Women came third. The consolation prize was won by Jaspreet Kaur of Ramgarhia College. Special encouragement prize was won by Ajay of SVM School. In poetry recitation(inter-college), Amandeep Kaur Dua of Government Girls College came first, Vaishali of MTSMC for Women was second and Jasica Sareen of Arya College for Women came third. In the inter-school story writing competition, Sarabjit of SVM School came first. In the essay writing competition, Manjot Kaur of Sargodha Khalsa Girls Senior Secondary School came first. In vaar singing (inter-college), GGN Khalsa College for Boys came first, Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women was declared second and MTSMC For Women and Mata Ganga Girls College, Kottan, was declared third. In the inter-school vaar singing competition, Ramgarhia Girls School was declared first. In the geet (inter-college) competition, Amarpreet of SCD College for Boys came first, Sarabjit Kaur of MTMCM for Women was second, Harpreet Kaur of Khalsa College for Women and Jagjit Kaur of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women were declared third. The consolation prize was bagged by Jagpreet Singh of GGN College for Boys. In the inter-school geet competition, Kumar of BVM Senior Secondary School came first, Magandeep Kaur of Sargodha Khalsa Girls Senior Secondary School was declared second, and Amandeep Kaur of Ramgarhia Girls Senior Secondary School came third. In folk song category (inter-school), Amit Sharma of SDM Senior Secondary School was first, Karuna of BVM Senior Secondary School came second, and Rimple of Sargodha Senior Secondary School got the third position.The consolation prize was won by Kanwaljit Kaur of Ramgarhia Girls Senior Secondary School. In the folk song competition (inter-college), Gurwinder Singh of GGN was first, Gurmeet Singh of SCD stood second, and Sarabjit Kaur of MTS College for Women and Harpreet Kaur of Khalsa College for Women shared the third prize. The consolation prize was given to Gulrez Akhtar of GK College for Women. In the ghazal competition (inter-college), Monica of MTSM College for Women came first, Heemani of KCW came second, and Liza of GK College for Women stood third. The consolation prize was won by Yogesh Sharma of GGNK for Boys. |
College professor given farewell Doraha, January 31 Speakers lauded the 30 years of dedicated service of Prof Pali. Mr Jogeshwar Singh Mangat, senior vice-president of the college management committee, said Prof Pali had lived upto the expectations of the institution. Prof Balwant Singh Pangali, general secretary of the committee, too applauded the work done by Prof Pali. Principal Jaswant Singh Gill said Prof Pali had inspired students to carve a niche for themselves in sports at national and international levels. “His students have risen to prestigious positions and hence proved to be an asset for their family and nation at large,” he said. Prof Pali thanked the college committee, Principal and staff for extending him such a warm send-off and said he would continue to work for the institution. He donated Rs 11,000 to a multi-purpose hall being erected in the memory of the founder president of the college, Dr Ishwar Singh. |
Dance contest a big draw at ‘Ectopia-04’ Ludhiana, January 31 A large number of students took part in the solo dance competition yesterday. The competition went on till 10.30 pm. Ruchi Verma (1999 batch) stood first. The second position was shared by Anupam (2000 batch) and Anureet (2001 batch). Nivedita (2001 batch) was declared third. The judges were Dr Amarjit, Dr Neena Sood, Dr J. Bindra and Dr Suman Puri. In the group song contest, the 2003 batch stood first and the 2001 batch was declared second. Dr Navdeep Khaira, Dr Sandeep Puri and Dr Anu Sharma were the judges. Today, in the solo singing contest, medical students entartained the audience by singing various Bollywood and folk numbers. In the female category, Manu Beniwal (1999 batch) stood first and Harleen (2003 batch) was second. The third position was shared by Surneet (2003 batch) and Aaina (2000 batch). In the male category, Rohit (2001 batch) was declared first, Jagdeep (2001 batch) was second and the third prize was shared by Gurpreet Garcha and Aminder Singh (1999 batch) . The judges for the contest were Dr Navjot Bajwa, Dr Subhash Goyal and Dr Anurag. In the rangoli competition, the 2003 batch was declared first, the 2001 batch stood second and the 2002 batch was third. The judges were Dr Lily Walia, Dr R. K. Grewal and Dr Vandana. The 2000 batch bagged the first position for its skit based on the inhuman attitude of society towards people in crisis. The 1999 batch secured the second position for its skit, “Yamraj di Kachehri”. Rishi Malhan (2000 batch) was adjudged the best actor. |
NCC exam held Ludhiana, January 31 The cadets were students of Sacred Heart Convent School, Khalsa Senior Secondary School, INV Farour, KVM Ludhiana, Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Halwara, and Government Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana. Subsequently, certificate ‘B’ and NCC Certificate-C exam is planned in the month of February, 2004. This exam is for the senior wing cadets of 3 Punjab girls Bn NCC, Ludhiana.
