Siahar family waits for justice
Siahar, January 6
Even as the Siahar imbroglio continues, with seemingly no solution in sight, the family of the 50-year-old man, who died in the violence that took place on October 11 last year, continues to wait for justice as his alleged murderer evades arrest.

34-year-old divorcee found murdered 
Ludhiana, January 6
A 34-year-old woman, employed as a nurse with a prominent infertility hospital here, was found murdered in a gruesome manner at her house in Sunder Nagar, near the Chandigarh road, early this morning. The police was suspecting that alleged illicit relationship of the deceased could be a reason behind the crime.

Appeal to repair Samrala road

The condition of a part of the Samrala-Khanna road from Samrala to Sacred Heart English School, Ottalan, 3 km from here, is in poor condition. The road is full of potholes and is a hazard to the public. Several fatal accidents have taken place during the past two years here since the road has either been repaired nor widened.

NSS camp concludes
Ludhiana, January 6
A 10-day NSS special camp concluded on the campus of Partap Public School at Partap Singhwala village today. The camp on ‘Youth for swastha’ was organised under the supervision of Dr Rajinder Jain, Programme Officer, NSS, Government College for Boys, which was attended by 50 volunteers.

Construction of memorial hall begins
Doraha, January 6
The construction of a multipurpose hall in memory of the founder-president of Guru Nanak National College, Doraha, the late Dr Ishwar Singh, started today. The great personality of the area, Mr Om Parkash Bector, laid the initial mark at the place where the multi-purpose hall is to be constructed.

The district unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has written to the Minister for Jails and Urban Development, Mr Malkiat Singh Birmi, that the officials from PUDA were harassing doctors in the Jamalpur area.

Schedule of Punjab rural sports

Despite the cold wave in the region, the organisers of rural sports have started chalking out the schedules of the festivals which are slated to begin in the last week of this month in different parts of Punjab. With a number of NRIs having arrived, the dates of these festivals are being finalised. The dates of some of the festivals have been announced by the organisers.
