World AIDS Awareness Day was observed here today.
To mark the occasion, a massive rally including thousands of students was organised by the 2 UP Armed SQN, NCC here in conjunction with the district administration students and the NCC cadets from various educational institutions.
They displayed play cards and banners on AIDS awareness during the rally while a Nukkar Natak (street play) staged by the NCC cadets and various students also attracted the attention of the passers-by.
Students and the NCC cadets also distributed leaflets to bring awareness about the threat.
The rally organised by the 2 UP Armed SQN NCC HQ began at 0930 hrs from Bachha Park and terminated at Craft Board Hospital, where more than 50 NCC cadets donated blood for the AIDS victims in the country.
During the occasion and its preparatory stage, students and NCC cadets were educated on the AIDS menace and various measures to be adopted for its prevention in Indian society.
A detailed session of AIDS awareness was also held in schools and colleges.
The session focused on the preventive measures as prevention is the best way to keep oneself safe from the AIDS curse.
The NCC cadets also displayed a number of posters in public. Through them, the people were advised to keep the disease away and lead a happy life.
