Jitender, Manoj help Delhi Club win

New Delhi, November 23
A dashing knock of 86 by Jitender Solanki and deadly bowling of 3 for 28 by Manoj Sharma helped Delhi Cricket Club defeat Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) by five runs in a DDCA A-I Division League at the Yamuna Sports Complex ground.

Scores: Delhi Club: 196 all out in 40 overs (Jitender Chaudhary 86, Amresh Pradhan 30, Hari Das 3 for 29). DTC: 191 all out in 39.4 overs (Kulvinder Singh 89, Bhuwan Sharma 40, Manoj Sharma 3 for 28).

In an A-II Division match, Lal Bahadur Shastri Coaching Centre beat Canara Bank by two wickets at the RSKP ground.

Scores: Canara Bank: 96 all out in 35.1 overs (J S Bisht 19, Parul Jain 2 for 3, Rakesh Khari 2 for 17).

Lal Bahadur Shastri Centre: 97 for 8 in 27.2 overs (Cristy Joshi 35 n o, Raju Kumar 3 for 18, S V Negi 2 for 15).

Rajdhani Sports win

Rajdhani Sports beat R P Academy by 17 runs and entered the semi-final of the C L Gupta Memorial Cricket Tournament for the Prem Lata Trophy at the Mohan Meakin ground.

Scores: Rajdhani Sports: 222 for 8 in 40 overs (Joginder Singh 86 n o, 6x4, 3x6; Naveen Verma 40, Pramod Bhati 34, Hemant Kumar 2 for 25).

R P Academy: 205 for 9 in 40 overs (Amrish Gautam 65, Kaif Mohd 57, Joginder Singh 3 for 39, Tapeshwar Tyagi 3 for 37, Naveen Verma 3 for 14).

DPS enter Sistani semis

Delhi Public School, R K Puram defeated Guru Harkishan Public School (GHPS), India Gate, by one wicket and entered the semi-final of the H S Sistani Memorial Inter-School Cricket Tournament at the S S Khalsa School ground.

Scores: GHPS: 119 all out 24.4 overs (Milan Kumar 24, Simranjeet Singh 30, Tejaswi Yadav 2 for 19). DPS: 120 for 9 in 20.5 overs (Jatin Kumar 30, Diwakar Jha 28, Arundeep Singh 4 for 25, Tarunjeet Singh 2 for 13).

Big win for Bharti

Bharti Infotel beat Fritolay by five wickets in the Eventus Cricket Tournament.

Scores: Fritolay: 104 all out in 24 overs (Manoj Gupta 26, Samik Basu 17, Sandeep Chawla 2 for 12, Gaurav Yadav 3 for 14).

Carnicobar down Dehradun in Subroto

New Delhi, November 23
Government Senior Secondary School, Malacca (Carnicobar) sneaked past DAV Inter-College, Dehradun (Uttranchal) 2-1 in an Under-17 match of the Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium on Sunday.

Manuah put Carnicobar in the lead in the 30th minute while Kamal Negi equalised for Dehradun five minutes later. Andrew pulled off the match-winner for Carnicobar in the 50th minute.

In a sloppy match, NCC Imphal scored at will to trounce Central Public Memorial School, Srinagar 12-0. Priyo Kumar Singh and R K Adarsh Singh scored three goals each while K H Prashanta Singh and Chitaranjan Singh scored two goals each. Raju Mangang and Rojen Singh accounted for the other goals.

In the third match, BSL IV E High School, Bokaro (Jharkhand) drubbed St Joseph English School, Gujarat 13-0. Manik Biswas slotted in seven goals for Bokaro, which included a hattrick. Lalbiaki Luanga struck home three goals while Abdul Mannan scored two goals and Rakesh Thapa one.

Amity Insurance Cricket Cup

New Delhi, November 23
Defending champions Tata AIG General defeated Royal Sundaram General by 252 runs in the opening match of the second Amity Insurance Cricket Cup, organised by the Amity School of Insurance and Actual Sciences, a its Noida campus on Saturday. The tournament is held in the aid of Amitasha, a school for the uplift of the underprivileged girl child under the aegis of the Amity Humanity Foundation.

Director of ASIAS R R Grover presented a cheque for Rs 50,000 to chairperson of Amitasha Mrs Amita Chauhan. The amount was raised through the first Amity Insurance Cricket Cup last year.

Teams from 16 insurance companies are participating in the tournament. The matches will be held on every Saturday and Sunday.

Scores: Tata AIG: 321 for 2 in 21.3 overs. Royal Sundaram: 70 all out.

Jindal edge out Zara, win polo trophy

Jindal Steel and Power edged out Zara 9-8 to lift the Indian Open Polo Championship trophy at the Jaipur polo ground. Sawai Bhawani Singh of Jaipur presented the trophy to the winning team.

Gerardo Mazzini, who played for Zara, was adjudged the ‘most valuable player’ while his pony ‘Imancho’ got the ‘best pony’ award.

Santiago Gastimbide scored five goals for Jindal to steal the spotlight. Vishal and Samir Suhag scored two goals each.

Satinder Garcha, Dhrupal Godara, Gerardo Mazzini (3) and Alejandro Traverso (3) were the marksmen for Zara.

St Thomas celebrate sports day

New Delhi, November 23
St. Thomas School, Mandir Marg celebrated their annual sports day with pomp and show at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Sunday. Director-general of RPF Dr A. K. Pandey was the chief guest and Rt Rev Karam Masih, Bishop of Delhi, showered his blessings on the gathering.

Spectacular aerobic exercises and melodious music kept around 12000 spectators spellbound. Every single child of the school, over 3000 in number, from nursery to Standard XII, participated in one item or the other.

The lilting music, synchronized steps and the artistic dances left the audience spellbound, and craving for more.
