21,000 teachers to be appointed in UP Govt schools
Parmindar Singh

Noida, November 17
About 21,000 teachers will be appointed soon to solve the shortage of teachers in the government schools in the state. This was stated by UP Basic Education Minister Kiran Pal Singh. The Basic Education Minister was in Noida on Sunday to inaugurate a western UP edition of a Hindi daily. The first priority before the government, he said, was to ensure that all children go to schools and do not drop out in the middle of the year. “We are making all-out efforts to achieve these objectives. A target for registering 40 lakh children in the state for ‘school chalo’ campaign has been set which will be fulfilled by December 31,” Mr Kiran Pal said. The Education Minister said fiscal shortage would not be allowed to become a stumbling block for this programme.

He said by December 31, a basic school at a distance of one and a half km and a junior high school within every 3 km will be set up in UP. Apart from a uniform curriculum, handicrafts, computer education, and other such interesting and useful courses will also be taught. Under another proposed scheme, a schools’ association will also be set up to promote debates, discussions and other competitions among children so that they could be linked to the mainstream activities in the district. Accepting that the shortage of teachers was affecting the education of children, the minister said, this shortage would soon be overcome. A large number of district level officers were present at the occasion.
