Both Jaishree and Rajini said, “They never faced any health problem during their four-day rally, rather they were able to relish the dhaba food, which included paranthas, rice and dal. Both said, “Even -20°C temperature at Pang village did not deter them. Anila, who had achieved the feat of covering 24,000 km in just three weeks, more than a decade back was of the opinion that the average speed for the participants should be increased. Rajini opined that the organisers did a fine job of organising the mega rally, but she feels that the total distance must be increased. Rajini and Jaishree both have planned to take part in the extreme category. |

Nominated Mr Prem Puri, Assistant Education Officer, UT Education Department, has been nominated as the Vice-President of the School Games Federation of India (SGFI). Mr Puri received a message in this regard from the Secretary-General of the SGFI. Mr Puri said the UT would bid for a few events in this year’s National School Games. The elections of the SGFI were held on October 9 in New Delhi. Mr Satpal was elected President and Mr P.S. Chhabra Secretary-General.
MCM eves win The MCM DAV College for Girls, Sector 36, and the Government College for Girls, Sector 11, surged ahead by winning their matches in the Panjab University inter-college zonal basketball tournament played here today at the PU campus grounds. MCM eves beat GNG College, Ludhiana, 77-03 while GCG-11 defeated GCG-42 by a narrow margin of 27-26. PU campus lost to the Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana, 42-66 while DAV College, Hoshiarpur, beat Dashmesh Girls College, Badal, 58-22.
Kho-kho champs Sanjay Public School, Sector 44, won laurels in kho-kho (boys) and handball (girls) when their under-19 teams won the UT inter-school tournaments in both disciplines. In handball, the school defeated Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 21. In kho-kho, the school beat SGGS Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Sector 35. In the under-19 boys handball event, Sanjay school boys made it to the final, to be held on October 17.

Sports day AMBALA: The annual sports day of Darshan Academy was held here yesterday. Mrs Anita Sehga, District Sports Officer, and Mr Satwinder Singh Heera, a weightlifting coach, were the chief guest and guest of honour, respectively. Students participated in various events. Darshan House won the sports trophy. UPSC seeks
clarifications Chandigarh, October 13 The Administration had sent the case to the UPSC for appointing a Chief Engineer. It is the UPSC which has to appoint a committee and set a date. The post of Chief Engineer had fallen vacant after Mr Puranjit Singh retired on September 30. The Administration handed over charge of Chief Engineer, Chandigarh Administration, to Mr Bhardwaj while Mr Sharma was handed over the charge of Chief Engineer Municipal Corporation, but his designation was kept as Superintending Engineer. Before September 30, Mr Bhardwaj was the Chief Engineer in MC. |
Order to construct
basement withdrawn Chandigarh, October 13 Sources said those people who had already constructed a basement would not be disturbed. The Chandigarh Beopar Mandal today protested against the order. |
