Our Sports Reporter

New Delhi, September 25
An all women’s car rally, organised by Empress Club, will be held on Sunday (September 28). In this unique rally, visually impaired women will be the “eyes” of the women drivers, and will guide them on a 45-km route through the city to their final destination. Around 100 cars were expected to line up for the flag-off at the Nehru Stadium. The rally will culminate at Hotel Hill View.

The rally, being held in collaboration with the Indian Oil Corporation, Mahindra and Mahindra and J K Tyre, is in aid of the National Association for the Blind. The rally is expected to showcase the grit and determination of not only the rallyists, but also those of their visually impaired fellow navigators. An eye donation camp will also be organised on the day of the rally.

Runu Bisht of Empress Club said the rally was a “platform to bring the visually impaired into mainstream activities as much as possible. The whole event was to prove on the fact that physically challenged people can easily overcome their handicap and in fact can be a guiding force to many.”
