Shahdara, Air Force enter semis New Delhi, September 17 Air Force rallied to hold Shahdara to a 1-1 draw, and both the teams qualified for the last four stage of the league. Shahdara took the lead in the 44th minute through striker Promodh Rawat. They muffed several other chances to score, with forwards Dharam Singh Negi and Veer Singh Negi failing to hit the mark. Air Force pulled off the equaliser in the 65th minute through substitute Arvindo Bandopadhyaya. Shahdara topped Group B, securing eight points from four matches. Air Force also collected eight points from four matches to finish second in the group. The crucial Group A Super League matches will be played on Thursday. Earlier, Simla Youngs scored a facile 3-0 victory against New Delhi Heroes in a Group B Super League match. Simla Youngs earned seven points from four matches, but their party was spoilt when Shahdara drew with Air Force. Flurry of sports activities at MDU Rohtak, September 17 The MDU’s Director of Sports today said that inter-college competitions for Cross Country (men and women) both will take place tomorrow. He said that the races would begin from Jawaharlal Nehru Canal, Rohtak. The president of the MDU’s sports council, Satpal Singh, will be the chief guest on the occasion. He also revealed that inter-college Netball (women) championship will be held at MKJK College, Rohtak, on September 26 and 27. The inter-college championship for softball (men) will take place in sports complex from September 30 to October 3, whereas the competitions for the women section will be organised at the same venue from September 29 to October 1. KLP College, Rewari, will host the inter-college championship for kho-kho (men) from September 27 to 30. DAV College for women will be the venue of inter-college volleyball tourney for eves to be held between October 3 to 6. The MDU Director of Sports also informed that selection of teams for the forthcoming inter-university sports championship would take place on the culminating day of the each inter-college competition. The selected sportspersons will undergo a training camp before start of the inter-university championships. |
Shiv Sunder Das, Mohanty star for NALCO New Delhi, September 17 In another match, Food Corporation of India (FCI) defeated Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) by six wickets, also to enter the last eight. In the third match, played at the Airports Authority of India ground, Airports Authority of India defeated HUDCO by four wickets. Scores: MTNL: 104 all out in 33.2 overs (D Mohanty 2 for 9, Shiv Sundar Das 2 for 15).
NALCO: 108 for 4 in 28.2 overs (Das 36). Shiv Sundar Das was declared the man of the match. NLC: 82 all out in 26.4 overs (Samit Narwal 5 for 20, Ashish Winston Zaidi 2 for 10). FCI: 83 for 4 in 18.2 overs (Kanwaljeet Singh 35). Sumit Narwal was awarded the man of the match. Hudco: 90 all out in 37.3 overs (H Dass 3 for 9, Mahesh 3 for 15, R Gupta 3 for 16).
