City cagers for Punjab youth meet

Ludhiana, August 31
The Ludhiana District Basketball Association (LDBA), after the trials that conducted here at Guru Nanak Stadium on Friday, has selected 11 boys and 12 girls for the forthcoming Punjab State Youth (under-17) Basketball Championship slated to be held at Jalalabad, Ferozepore, from September 2 to 6.

According to Mr Teja Singh Dhaliwal, honorary general secretary, LDBA, these cagers have been selected out of over 100 aspirants who took part in the trial.

Those selected are: Girls — Gagan Deol, Kiranjit Kaur, Harjit Kaur, Sarabjit Kaur, Simran, Harpreet Kaur, Pooja, Satbir Kaur, Preety, Charanjit Kaur, Balwinder Kaur and Tavleen. Mr Devinder Pal Singh and Ms Kulbir Kaur will accompany the team as coach and manager, respectively.

Boys — Taranjeet Cheema, Ankush Passi, Tejinder Singh, Rajat Jain, Gagandeep Jain, Mohit Sharma, Jagjit Kumar, Puneet Kumar, Manjeet Singh, Rajan Sharma and Jagbir Singh. Mr Devinderpal Singh and Mr Ashwani Kumar will be the coach and assistant coach of the team, while Mr Vijay Chopra will accompany the team as manager.
