India has best medical facilities
Our Correspondent

Ludhiana, August 15
“India has got all potential. In medical care, they have got latest infrastructure, professional experts and cheaper health services as compared to international standards. Still people are deprived of good medical care because the country is economically weak and over populated. The lower strata of the society can’t afford the cost of treatment here”, these views were expressed by Ms Kristin Olina, a medical student from Iceland, who is in the city to get an overview of the health services in the country under the mutual exchange programme. Sent by the International Federation of Medical Students Association (Standing Committee of Professional Exchange), Kristin is getting training from Arora Neuro and Trauma Centre.

Kristin has command over languages like English, Danish, Spanish and German. She is here to learn neuro-surgery techniques. “The other major difference, I find is that people in western countries are medically insured. They do not find it difficult when they pay their medical bills. But here less importance is paid on health insurance. Health insurance of all people should be made mandatory”, she stressed.

“I have been studying medicine now for the three years. I take much interest in clinical studies. If given a chance, I would definitely serve Indians. I love working here. People are very helpful in the hospital “, she added.

People in Ludhiana are very warm hearted. “I chose the country because of its culturally rich and traditions. I love Indian food and the clothing and jewellery are gorgeous.
