Players of R S Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar started their title hunt on a sound note, registering emphatic victories in the boys as well as girls’ sections of the seventh Ludhiana
District Softball Championship which began at Ramgarhia Girls College, Miller Ganj, here today.
In the inaugural match of the championship, R S Model Senior Secondary School (girls) breezed past Guru Nanak International School 14-1. Alka, Hardeep Kaur, Amandeep Kaur and Harman Kaur contributed two points each in R S Model School’s win.
In the boys’ section, R S Model Senior Secondary School faced no challenge from their opponents from Guru Nanak International School whom they trounced 11-0. The main architects of R.S Model Senior Secondary School’s easy win were Ratish and Deepak who accounted for two points each.
In another match, the Ramgarhia Club (boys) beat SDP Academy 15-4 with Iqbal Singh top scoring with three points while Pankaj, Malkiat and Harnaik chipping in with two points each. In the last match of the day (boys), Ramgarhia School, helped by fine performance by Satish (3) and Kulbir (2), thrashed Saini Public School 10-0.
Earlier, Ms Harmeet Kaur, Principal, Ramgarhia Girls College, Miller Ganj inaugurated the four-day championship in which eight boys and four girls teams are taking part.
