Move to elevate education board standard
Our Correspondent

Sonepat, July 21
The Board of School Education Haryana has taken a series of measures to raise the standard of education in the government schools. The board aims to raise the education standard to the level of the CBSE.

Giving this information, the newly appointed Chairman of the Board, Brig O. P. Chaudhary, (retd) told mediapersons here last evening that the teachers were responsible for the decline in the standard of education. If they worked hard, the standard of education could be raised in government schools, he said. He emphasised that education did not simply mean distribution of degrees, but preparing responsive citizens.

He disclosed that steps were being taken to provide modern and job oriented vocational education in government schools in a bid to eliminate unemployment in the society. The spread of vocational education, he said, would encourage the students to become self-reliant early in life. Referring to the leakage of papers during the annual examinations held by the board this year, Mr Chaudhary disclosed that steps are underway to prevent such incidents. He said the board was determined to tighten-up the confidential wing.

He said that a high level inquiry has been initiated by the board into the episode, and stern action would be taken against the erring persons involved in the unholy act. He further disclosed that the board would take stringent measures to check the menace of copying in the next annual and supplementary examinations of the board.

Above all, the board would seek the help and cooperation of the teachers as well as the parents of the examinees, he said.
