Tribune News Service

New Delhi, July 11
The President, Mr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, will visit the MCD school at Gali Bandook Wali, Ajmeri Gate, to see the completed facelift work undertaken there. This school was thoroughly renovated by Union Minister of State, Mr Vijay Goel, recently. There used to be no signs of swings, water coolers, toys and cleanliness in the school whereas today this school is not less than any public school.

While working on his “School Sudhar Yojana” Mr Goel had an opportunity to meet the President. He placed his plan before the President who, according to Mr Goel, was instrumental in providing inspiration and strength which helped him concentrate on the implementation of the ‘yojana’. He also requested the President to visit the school and interact with children. The President was kind enough to agree to his request.

Taking an initiative in the direction of renovation of MCD Schools, Mr Goel had adopted one school in his locality. He added the MCD should take it as an example so that the rest of the schools could also be got renovated with the help of NGOs, business houses and individuals. The condition of almost all MCD schools was bad today.

While talking to newspersons Mr Goel said the cooperation of the MCD was imperative in the improvement of all MCD-run schools.

According to Mr Goel, there are a number of MCD schools where the enrolment of students is very less in the different classes. Atmosphere conducive to education in MCD schools was feasible if those schools with less enrolment could be merged.
