Sharda to meet Vanshika in Tirath Ram title clash

New Delhi, June 25
Sharda Chhabra will take on Vanshika in the women’s singles final of the 14th Pt Tirath Ram Badminton Tournament. In the semi-finals, played at the New Era School court, Sharda beat Harshimran 11-2, 11-4 while Vanshika beat Rachita 11-2, 11-1.

Sandeep Kaushik will clash against Tanvir Gill in the men’s singles title clash. In the semi-finals, Sandeep beat Himanshu 15-6, 11-15, 15-8 while Tanvir prevailed over Rudra Kaushik 15-5, 15-12.

Subhania move up in Ranjit Singh cricket

New Delhi, June 25
A fine half century by man of the match Ashok (55, 8x4) and 47, studded with six fours, by Vaibhav, helped Subhania Club beat Airport Authority of India on better run rate in a quarter-final match of the second Maharaja Ranjit Singhji Cricket Tournament on the Airport Authority of India cricket ground, Mahipalpur.

Delhi Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee Sports Secretary Balbir Singh was the chief guest at the match. He presented the man of the match award to Ashok of Subhania.

Scores: Subhania: 181 for 4 in 30 overs (Ashok 55, Vaibhav 47, Mahesh 2 for 18, Ankit 2 for 33).

Airport Authority: 65 for 4 in 14 overs (Mahesh 24).

Nat-West Trophy live on ESPN

Cricket’s spectacular summer is hotting up as the Nat-West Triangular Series, involving South Africa, Zimbabwe and hosts England begins on June 26. ESPN will telecast all the matches live.

After a resounding series win against Pakistan, Michael Vaughan leads his young, confident brigade into the Nat-West series.

With Marcus Trescothick rediscovering his brutal touch with the bat against Pakistan, the batting looks in healthy shape.

Vaughan, though, is yet to stamp his class in the shorter version of the game and this series is the ideal platform for him to come good.

Varun Sood stars in Under-15 cricket

New Delhi, June 25
An all-round display by Varun Sood (3 for 9 and 76) helped Xaviour Convent School beat Ramjas School No 2 by eight wickets in the DDCA Under-15 Cricket Tournament at the Vikaspuri ground.

Scores: Ramjas School: 170 all out in 40 overs (Harpreet Singh 44, Manoj Kumar 31, Varun Sood 3 for 9, Shailej Sodhi 3 for 50, Rochak Sachdeva 3 for 35).

Xaviour Convent: 172 for 2 in 32.5 overs (Varun Sood 76 no, Chayan Kokcha 50, Virat Kohli 38 n o, Rajiv Gupta 1 for 20).

Montfort Academy win

A 153-run opening wicket partnership between Abhishek Kaushik and Nakul Sharma helped Montfort Academy beat Ajmal Khan Coaching Centre by ten wickets in the fifth BDM Moonways Under-19 Cricket Tournament at the Montfort ground.

Scores: Ajmal Khan Club: 151 all out in 33.3 overs (Sunny Sethi 45, Nitin Kumar 32, Paurush Kumar 3 for 14).

Montfort Academy: 153 for no loss in 19.3 overs (Abhishek Kaushik 86 n o, 12x4, 2x6; Nakul Sharma 51 n o, 6x4, 2x6).

Vidya Bal Bhawan advance

Vidya Bal Bhawan Academy defeated Madhu Vihar Sports Club by 92 runs in a league match of the Madhu Vihar Under-15 Cricket Tournament at the DDA ground, Patparganj.

Scores: Vidya Bal Bhawan Academy: 212 for 8 in 30 overs (Vijay Anand 76, Digvijay Rawat 43, Dushant Kumar 3 for 14, Yogesh Kumar 3 for 38).

Madhu Vihar Club: 120 all out in 24.4 overs (S Mehto 50, Abhishek Sharma 30, Ishan Kumar 3 for 11, Manish Kumar 3 for 21).

Rohini Club drub Union in soccer league

New Delhi, June 25
Rohini Club drubbed Union Club 4-0 in the opening match of the Group B preliminary league of the Delhi Soccer Association (DSA) Open Clubs Football League Championship at the Ambedkar Stadium on Wednesday.

Playing at a fast pace, Rohini Club forged ahead in the sixth minute through inside-left Anjan Chakraborty.

Thereafter, Vinod and Sunil muffed easy chances by banging into the cross bar.

However, in the second half, Rohini added three more goals through Vinay, Anjan Chakraborty and Imtiaz.

Hassan and Achinta created openings for Union Club, but their forwardsfailed to apply the killer punch.

Thursday’s match: South India vs Columba’s Youngsters;4.30 p m—Ambedkar Stadium.

Ernst and Young to meet Nestle in final

New Delhi, June 25
Ernst and Young defeated Jet United 3-1 to set up a title clash against Nestle, who beat Grey Worldwide 2-0 in the Gold Plate semi-finals of the Delhi Merchants Cup Football Tournament. Anoop Rawat, Varun Mahendra and Jayant Bhargava scored for Ernst and Young while R Radhakrishnan pulled off the consolation goal for Jet United.

Dennis Austriaco scored both the goals for Nestle. OSR
