Abhinav’s hard work and continuous exposure to international tournaments over the years have helped him grow as a shooter, viewed Mr Gurbir Singh, President of the Punjab Rifle Shooting Association, who hoped that Abhinav would perform well in the Olympics. He said Abhinav, at this young age, had performed exceptionally well, especially among players who were quite senior to him. Sadly, with more than a year left for Athens Olympics, Abhinav is pleading for government support to fund his training. When asked, Abhinav said: “In countries like the USA, Olympic Committee supports the players, but here the system is slightly different.” Col Jagir Singh Dhillon, Abhinav’s coach, is confident of a good show by him in the days to come. |
