Vijay
reigns supreme in MRF Motorcross New Delhi, June 15 Vijay Kumar displayed amazing skill and knowledge of the track while riding to glory. T. K. Viswanath of Team Yamaha led from the hole shot to win the Indian Experts upto 250cc. The track, made up of loose sand, soon started claiming its victims and Viswanath lost his lead on the third lap to compatriot Yogesh Barguge. Crowd favourite Vijay Kumar was in fourth position and moved into third at Viswanath’s expense. Yogesh maintained his lead, but despite intense pressure from Vijay Kumar and G Prasad, Yogesh rode calmly to come in first. K. P. Chandan raced to lead in the Indian Novice class above 80cc to 150cc. But he fell a victim to the treacherous track after leading till the third lap. M. Sayed of Jaipur, riding a Yamaha RX 135, roared into the lead in the melee and maintained it throughout to win in style. Sunil Moite and Ravikant Sharma, both of Jaipur, finished second and third respectively. C. Jinan lived upto expectation to win the Indian Experts 80cc to 110cc in a start-to-finish effort. In the Indian Experts 2 stroke above 80cc to 150cc, favourite Vijay Kumar got entangled from the hole shot and was in last position. G. Prasad rode into the lead and maintained it till the fourth lap, where an error led to his fall, and went out of the race. Sayed Ethasham of Team Yamaha then moved into the lead, and held on till the finish line. Syed Rehman of Team TVS Racing, who was in third place, snatched the second spot from Yogesh of Team Yamaha, who did not know what hit him. |
Srivastava creates new course record
New Delhi, June 15 Overnight leader J. S. Naurath won the title with a net score of 19-under 61. M. S. Bhist beat Vikram Kohli on a back-six count back after the two finished tied at 15-under each. Five-time National Amateur champion Ashok Malik aced the par-3 15th hole, with a well-directed pitching wedge shot. This brought up the second hole-in-one of the tournament. Capt. Navneet Mediratta, the ADC to the Governor of Uttaranchal, carded a hole-in-one on the 10th. The prizes were distributed by Governor of Uttar Pradesh Vishnu Kant Shastri. The Best Nett Score category on day one was won by Hemant Singh at 10-under, while M. S. Bisht won the event on the second day. Vir Srivastava bagged the ‘Best Gross Score Over 36 Holes’ award. OSR |

victory for Vaish Public School Rohtak, June 15 Vaish Public School scored 196 in 28.3 overs after winning the toss. Skipper Ankur Jain hit seven fours and a six to compile 39 runs off just 39 balls. Anand Yadav (25), Sachin Bhardwaj (24) and Sandeep (20) were the other top scorers. Ashwani Chugh took 3 wickets for 24 runs and Manish Birsoni came up with a tally of 2 wickets for 42 runs. In reply the useful knock of 49 by Rohit Bhola went in vain as Aryavrat Sports Club could score only 99 runs in 22.3 overs. Anand Yadav captured 4 wickets for just 13 runs, whereas Anil Sharma and Amit Dahiya took two wickets each, giving away 26 and 31 runs respectively. |
