All for a youthful appearance

Ludhiana, June 14
Fashion savvy city women have turned to science to temporarily remove wrinkles and look beautiful. These women say the new natural purified protein relaxes wrinkle causing muscles, creates a smooth, rejuvenated and more youthful appearance that clears the deep persistent facial lines. The medical fraternity, however, feels that the regular administering of these injections could lead to side-effects.

Ms Anita Nayyar, who gave a presentation of botox — introduced by medical fraternity — in the city recently, says a ten-minute treatment relaxes the muscles which cause these lines and keeps them in the same condition for six months. The result is visible within a few days. After treatment the overlying skin becomes flat and wrinkled disappear while the untreated facial muscles contract in normal fashion allowing normal facial expression.

Dr Ajit Kang, city’s leading gynaecologist, said, “It felt like a mosquito bite. Within a week I observed noticeable difference with the lines on my forehead fading away. I would definitely recommend this to my friends who wish to look beautiful”.

Another businesswoman, who did not wish to be identified, said, “I want to maintain myself. I do yoga and exercise regularly to stay fit, still one can not fight with nature. If modern technology can make you beautiful, why not try it? I spend so much on my clothes and jewellery and if one injection provides me good and fresh looks, I would definitely administer it. The injection erased wrinkles from my face and I am not facing any problem”.

Another socialite Sweety Ghai felt just a pin prick while taking the treatment for “crow’s feet” (around the eyes). “You feel good and fresh in front of mirror. It is a morale booster, I would definitely go again”, she said.

Dr Gursharan Sidhu, medical practitioner, felt a slight headache for an hour or so. She claimed that it was 100 per cent safe as long as it was carried out by a trained and qualified doctor.

Dr Alka Dogra, Head of the Dermatology Department, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, said it should be practiced strictly by experienced hands or it could cause ptosis (paralysis of the upper eye-lid). The injection is made of botolism toxin which temporarily paralyses the facial muscles. It has to be repeated after every six months and persistent headache could also be one of its side-effects.
