School kids dance for parents

It was a special day for parents of students of Lovely Lotus Nursery School, BRS Nagar, as they watched them dance especially for them at a function held here today. The parents were thrilled to see their children dance to the tune of “Mama darling, papa darling, I love you. See me dancing just for you”. The children also presented various dance items.

Ms Harpreet Kaur Gill, Principal, said it was conventional for the children to wish their mother and father on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day but beyond such an expression of love for a single day, gratitude for the parents was more important.

City boy excels in ICSE exam

Abhimanyu Singhi, student of Doon School, Dehra Dun, has scored 95.75 per cent in the plus two examination conducted by the ICSE board, the results of which were declared on the Internet last evening.

A non-medical student, Abhimanyu wants to become a journalist with a leading English daily.

Son of a city-based businessman, he said he had represented the school in several inter-school quiz competitions.

6 get life term for murder

Ludhiana, May 20
A local court has sentenced six persons, including a woman, to life imprisonment for killing a contractor for not paying them their due share. A fine of Rs 2000 each has also been imposed on them.

These sentenced are Bijli of Bihar, and Hari Lal, Kallu Sharma, Lallu Sharma, Sabu Sharma and Dolu Sharma, all from Nepal. They had murdered Makhan Yadav at Kalsian village in 2000.

Delivering the verdict, Mr S.M.S. Mahal, Additional Sessions Judge, held that it had been proved beyond doubt that the accused had intentionally caused the injuries.
