Air Sahara stun Punjab Cricket Association

New Delhi, May 13
An unbeaten 104, studded with 11 boundaries and three sixes, and 2 for 48 by Surinder Dayma, helped Air Sahara beat Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Colts, Mohali by seven wickets and entered the quarter-final of the 30th All-India Goswami Ganesh Dutt Memorial Cricket Tournament at the Khalsa College ground. Surinder Dayma was adjudged the man of the match.

Air Sahara won the toss and put the PCA Colts into bat. The PCA colts could score only 183 for 7 in 40 overs. PCA had lost four wickets for 36 runs at one stage, with Ishan Malhotra (0), Samarat Sharma (13), Ankur Kakar (13) and S P Singh (1) back in the pavilion. But Amit Bahl and Amit Uniyal batted with responsibility to take the PCA Colts’ total to a respectable level.

In reply, Air Sahara scored the required runs for victory in 31.4 overs.

Salwan Boys to meet Hansraj in final

Salwan Boys will take on Hanraj Model School in the final of the first Harry Cup Under-15 Cricket Tournament.

In the semi-finals, Salwan Boys beat R P Academy bt five wickets while Hansraj Model School defeated DAV School, Shalimar Bagh by nine wickets.

Scores: R P Academy: 183 all out in 38.2 overs (Kaif Mohd 87, Sawan Saini 3 for 20, Yogesh Nagar 2 for 38, Tarun Chaudhary 2 for 29).

Salwan Boys: 184 for 5 in 33.4 overs (Shobhit Kaushik 53, Aditya Aima 40 n o, Gurpreet Singh 27, Puneet Mehra 2 for 33).

DAV School: 77 all out in 27.3 overs (Rajat Jain 19, Prateek Vadera 3 for 20, Kumar Abhishek 3 for 33, Gaurav Jangla 3 for 5). 

Hansraj Model School: 78 for 1 in 14.1 overs (Rahul Yadav 38 n o, Onant Jai Singh 35 n o).

NIIT lift Reebok Cup

NIIT beat Standard Chartered Bank by three wickets to win the Reebok Cricket Tournament title.

Scores: Standard Chartered Bank: 154 all out in 24.3 overs (Gaurav Chopra 31, 4x3, 6x1; Vikrant Singh 29, 4x6; Vikash Verma 2 for 25, Aashish Sachdeva 2 for 19, Gagan Adlakha 2 for 27). 

NIIT: 157 for 7 in 22.5 overs (Raj Kumar n 49, 4x8; Aashish Gupta 28, 4x5, Sanjay Nayal 3 for 38).

Preet Singh of KPMG was adjudged the best batsman while the best bowler award went to Vikash Verma of NIIT. Kapil Gupta got the best fielder award while Vikrant Singh was named the best wicket-keeper.

Mohit Kaushal won the man of the tournament title while Business India got the most disciplined team award.

Mayank, Rushil star in Sonnet’s win

Outstanding all-round performances by Mayank Aggarwal (3 for 37 and 68 n o) and Rushil Bhaskar (2 for 32 and 74 n o) helped Sonnet Club beat Ramjas Day Boarding School by nine wickets in the DDCA Under-15 Cricket Tournament at the Venkateshwara College ground.

Scores: Ramjas Day Boarding: 168 for 9 in 40 overs (Aditya Gopal 77, Anubhav Deewan 25, Mayank Aggarwal 3 for 37, Rushil Bhaskar 2 for 32).

Sonnet Club: 169 for 1 in 29 overs (Rushil Bhaskar 74 n o, Mayank Aggarwal 68 n o).

Saviour Convent defeated Little Masters by 35 runs at the Vikaspuri ground.

Scores: Saviour Convent: 188 for 5 in 40 overs (Virat Kohli 115 n o, Chayan Kokcha 25, Rashid Khan 3 for 27). 

Little Masters: 153 in 33 overs (Vineet Ranjan 30, Charanjeet 25, Varun Sood 7 for 30).

Delhi Blues beat Professional Management Group (PMG) by 109 runs at the Kotla I ground.

Scores: Delhi Blues: 259 for 8 in 45 overs (Amitoze Singh 82, Gaurav Upadhyay 41, Ankush Raghav 39, Pradeep Kumar 2 for 75).

PMG: 150 for 7 in 45 overs (Vikram Kumar 27 n o, Pradeep Kumar 26, Shrey Gupta 2 for 25).

SAI to organise Dr T Ao soccer

New Delhi, May 13
The Sports Authority of India (SAI), in collaboration with the Department of Development of North Eastern Region (DONER) (Government of India), will hold the

Dr T Ao Football Tournament from May 17 to 30 at the Nehru Stadium, Guwahati (Assam).

The tournament is being held to showcase the football talent from the North East region. This will provide an opportunity to the All-India Football Federation and the SAI to spot outstanding footballers from the region and induct them in appropriate schemes/camps for further grooming for international duty.

Teams from Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Sikkim will participate in the tournament, along with two teams from the SAI Eastern Region. The tournament will be held on a league-cum-knockout format with five teams in each of the two pools. A total of 24 matches will be played. OSR

Maya bags silver medal

Rewari, May 13
Constable Maya Rani of Rewari bagged a silver medal and cash prize of Rs 25,000 in the Asian Karate Championship-2003 held at Colombo recently.

She was the lone participant from Haryana Police among the four women constables had participated in the championship from India. Besides a large number of other karate players from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Japan, Korea, Russia and Sri Lanka, also participated in the championship, which was held from May 2 to May 5. She bagged the silver medal in the 60-kg weight category.

Complimenting constable Maya Rani, who is a blackbelt holder in karate, Mr Hanif Qureshi SP, Rewari, said that she had brought glory to the Haryana Police as well as the women of India. OSR
