Traders stage dharna against robberies

Irked by the worsening law and order situation in the town, traders and businessmen on Railway Road today observed a strike and staged a dharna to demand the arrest of the desperadoes involved in robbing Rs 4.75 lakh from jewellers Gajanand and his son Girish and inflicting injuries on them with a knife on Saturday.

The Minister for Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation, Mr Ananth Kumar, today dismissed claims that the Metro fare will be increased in the Capital. “There is no proposal to hike the fare. The Metro is currently running on promotional fare,” he said.
