Drug to reduce wrinkles

Ludhiana, April 24
Dr Vandana Chatrath, a dermatologist from New Delhi, addressed women at a Coffee Morning arranged at Hotel Majestic Park Plaza here. She spoke about the use of Botox drug. “Botox offers a simple, non-surgical procedure that can reduce wrinkles within days,” she said.

Dr Vandana Chatrath, a graduate from Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi, has had her training in dermatology from Boston University, USA. She is currently practising in New Delhi. She demonstrated the results Botox use through a slide show.

She administered Botox injections to two volunteers. The results will be assessed after a week. “Each unit of Botox costs around Rs 6,000 and one requires injection after every five to six months. The side-effects of the drug include headache, nausea and bruising of the skin, but these are for a short period only,” she said.

Ms Anita Nayyar, director of Hindustan Levers Networking, who will be the local coordinator for Botox, also addressed the gathering.

Two instructors from the Health Club of Park Plaza, Amit Verma and Himanshi, gave a demonstration on dance aerobics, step aerobics and relaxation techniques.

Jalandhar gain lead

An unbeaten century by Pawan Sarang (104 not out) helped Jalandhar to surpass Ludhiana’s first innings’ total on the second day of their match in the Punjab State Inter-District Cricket Championship (under 15 category) for the Sushil Bali Trophy being organised by the Punjab Cricket Association at the Burlton Park Ground, Jalandhar, today.

Chasing the Ludhiana team’s first innings’ total of 224 runs, Jalandhar team made a sedate beginning but finally managed to score 323 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted quota of 90 overs. Their middle-order batsman Pawan Sarang played an anchoring role and remained not out on 104 runs. He was ably assisted by Asim Tuli and Sandeep who made valuable contributions of 52 and 36 runs, respectively. Robin Singh and Vikul Sodhi also played sensibly and scored 34 and 37 runs, respectively.

For Ludhiana team, skipper Mukul Gupta was the most successful bowler. He claimed four wickets for 63 runs, Nakul Sharma grabbed one for 60 and Vishal Passi got one for 28 runs.
