Sonnet clip Shastri Club’s wings

New Delhi, April 18
Devastating bowling performances by Chetanya Nanda, who claimed four wickets for 12 runs off just eight overs and Karan Harit, who took three wickets for 29 runs off eight overs, helped Sonnet Club clip the wings of Lal Bahadur Shastri Club by 11 runs in a low-scoring match of the 13th All-India Om Nath Sood Memorial Cricket Tournament at the Khalsa College ground on Friday.

Chetanya Nanda, who was adjudged the Pepsi man of the match, was presented the award by chief guest Pradeep Bhola.

Shastri Club won the toss and put Sonnet into bat. Though Sonnet were shot out for 138 due to the controlled bowling of Amit Nehra and Ashutosh Sharma, Shastri Club failed to take advantage of such a simple target as their own batsmen failed to counter the fierce bowling of Chetanya Nanda and Karan Harit.

Scores: Sonnet Club: 138 in 39.3 overs (Devender Sharma 42, Sumit Sharma 28, Suhale Sharma 23, Amit Nehra 2 for 7, Sumit Dogra 2 for 27, Ashutosh Sharma 2 for 31). Shastri Club: 127 in 36.3 overs (Salim Khan 24, Himanshu Mehta 23, Dalip T T 21, Praveen Thapar 21 n o, Chetanya Nanda 4 for 12, Karan Harit 3 for 29, Sachin Rana 3 for 30).

MCD beat K N Colts

Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) defeated K N Colts by 16 runs in the opening match of the 12th Shera Pandit Memorial Cricket Tournament at the Mohan Meakins ground today.
