Two new Lal diagnostic centres opened 
in SDA, Preet Vihar

In its endeavour to provide world-class diagnostic facilities to every Indian, Dr Lal Path Labs, India’s largest pathology chain, has now opened two new state-of-the-art diagnostic centres in Safdarjung Development Area (SDA) and Preet Vihar.

The centres were inaugurated by Delhi Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr A K Walia, in presence of Dr Arvind Lal, Managing Director, Dr Lal Path Labs Pvt. Ltd., eminent doctors of the city and other dignitaries.

The latest diagnostic centres from LPL incorporates the most appropriate diagnostic parameters relevant to Indian Conditions, with an innovative emphasis on automation and quality assurance for its wide range of over 1,400 tests in the disciplines of Molecular Diagnostics, Biophysics, Virology, Immunophenotyping, Cytogenetics, Endocrinology, Genetics, Nutrition and Metabolism, Oncology, Toxicology, Immunochemistry, Biochemistry, Haematology, Histopathology, Cytology and other infectious diseases. This range is the widest in testing parameters available under one roof.

Also keeping in view the convenience of the consumers, the laboratories will also offer cardiology and radiology tests. Under Cardiology, Treadmill Test (TMT), ECG, Echocardiography and LDL-Subfractions tests will be conducted under the expert supervision of cardiologists.

The lab will also offer imaging tests like X-ray, ultrasound with Colour Doppler etc under supervision of expert radiologists.

The sprawling laboratories will offer economical, yet very effective health packages to the patients. LPL also plans to organize various health camps to promote preventive health care.

Speaking on the launch, Dr Lal said, “At LPL, we endeavour to provide our patients timely, accurate, cost-effective and error free results from the widest test menu and seamless quality service backed by our widespread hub-and-spoke network across the country. These two laboratories with sophisticated equipments will provide

Delhiites with error-free diagnosis and world-class service.”

“Being accredited by National Board of Accreditation of Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), Dr Lal Path Labs is one of the most dependable diagnostic labs in the country. It not only provides accuracy and quality but also the tests which are not available elsewhere in India”, said the Health Minister of Delhi, Dr Walia.

With the launch of these labs, Dr Lal Path labs now has 5 (five) labs and 90 collection centres strong network in NCR.

LPL is currently also running labs at Mumbai and Kanpur, making it the largest Pathology Services provider in the country.

Jaitley opens library at DDCA

In a welcome move, a well-stocked library was inaugurated at the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) premises on Monday.
DDCA president and Union Minister Arun Jaitly lit a lamp to inaugurate the library.

The library was a long-felt need of the cricketers and others who patronise the DDCA. And thanks to the initiative of some of the club members, the dream of establishing a library has fructified as a reality.

The Delhi Ranji Trophy players, present on the occasion, were pleased to have such a facility at the DDCA and they thoroughly enjoyed browsing through books on cricket, magazines and newspapers.

The library has been divided into five sections, consisting of books on cricket, law, Hindi literature and novels, English literature and novels, newspapers and magazines.

Among those who were present on the auspicious occasion were DDCA vice-president C. K. Khanna, who is also the vice-chairman of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), sports secretary Sunil Dev, former India captain Bishan Singh Bedi, who is the chief coach of the Delhi Ranji Trophy team, Ranji Trophy players Vijay Dahiya, Mithun Manhas, Amit Bhandari, Akash Chopra and Pradeep Chawla, DDCA vice-president Suresh Chopra, general-secretary S P Bansal, club secretary Anil Khanna, joint club secretary Dr S S Sareen, members of the executive committee and the Sports Committee.

Dalip hits ton in Shastri Club’s victory

A sparkling century knock of 109, studded with one six and 12 fours, off 113 balls, by Dalip T T enabled Lal Bahadur Shastri Club beat Indian Air Force by seven wickets in the 13th All-India Om Nath Sood Memorial Cricket Tournament at the Khalsa College ground.

Shastri Club won the toss and elected to field. Indian Air Force, after a shaky start, steadied their innings when skipper Deepak Bhaskar and Imtiaz put on a 100-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Bhaskar contributed 58 with five fours off 70 balls while Imtiaz scored 75, off 106 balls, with six fours.

But Air Force’s game plan was upset by Dalip TT whose dynamic century made things easy for Shastri Club who coasted to victory in 37.3 overs. Dalip T T was presented the Pepsi man of the match award by chief guest Paresh Verma.

Electing to bat, Shastri Club made 214 for 3 in 37.3 overs. Dalip’s cameo powers Shastri Club to victory. Rajan’s contribution was also immense.

Scores: Indian Air Force: 213 for 9 in 40 overs (Imtiaz 75, Deepak Bhaskar 58, Praveen Thapar 3 for 51).

Shastri Club: 214 for 3 in 37.3 overs (Dalip T T 109, Rajan Gupta 36 n o).

Three Delhi boys for NCA

Three Delhi boys have been selected by the Board of Control for Cricket in India to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore.

The selected boys are Vartik Tihara in the Under-15 age group and Puneet Bisht and Ankur Garg in the Under-17 age group.

Tihara will join the academy from May 1, while the other two boys will join the NCA from August 2.

Mohit, Sagar star for Hans Raj Academy

A fine knock of 71 by Mohit Sharma and an all-round performance by Sagar Midda (37 and 3 for 27) helped Hans Raj Academy (HRA) beat Dronacharya Academy by 99 runs in the first All-India GMCA Under-14 Cricket Tournament at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Mohit Sharma was adjudged the man of the match.

Batting first, 251 all out in 40 overs. Mohit hits some wonderful shots.

Scores: HRA: 251 all out in 40 overs (Mohit Sharma 71, Gurpreet Singh 47, Sagar Midda 37, Samarth Saxena 3 for 42).

Dronacharya: 152 all out in 34.4 overs (Abhishek Narang 44, Rohit Sharma 30, Rahul Kumar 3 for 22, Sagar Midda 3 for 27).

Delhi Administration win

Delhi Administration defeated West Delhi Cricket Academy by nine wickets in a league match of the second Rajdhani Cup Cricket Tournament at the Najafgarh Sports Club ground.

Narender Malik, who scored an unbeaten 71, with some craking baoundaries, was named the man of the match.

Scores: West Delhi: 137 for 3 in 32.3 overs (Virat Kohli 43, Nitin Chugh 43, Subhash Chander 4 for 10, Sanjay Tomar 2 for 18).

Delhi Admn: 141 for 1 in 22 overs (Narender Malik 71 n o, Rajender Bhardwaj 27, Ombir Thakran 31 n o).

DDA lift Teri Badminton Cup

The DDA badminton team, which won the Teri Cup, with former Asian champion Dinesh KhannaNew Delhi, April 14
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) downed Seimens 2-0 to lift the third Teri Cup Badminton Tournament.
In a one-sided title match, Kishan Maharaj put DDA in the lead when he beat Rohit Khurana 15-7, 15-2 while Nandlal ensured the title for DDA by beating R K Jaiswal 15-13, 15-3. Kishan Maharaj was adjudged the player of the tournament. Former Asian badminton champion and Arjuna Awardee Dinesh Khanna gave away the prizes.
