Medical camp for industrial workers

Ludhiana, April 12
A free medical check-up camp for industrial workers was organised by Vardhman Spinning and General Mills in the Vardhman colony here today.
The camp was organised to provide an opportunity to industrial workers and their families to get treatment for various ailments pertaining to eyes, nose and throat, including ECG and blood sugar tests, free of cost.

Mr V.K. Goyal, Chief Executive, Vardhman Spinning and General Mills, inaugurated the camp. Medicines and eyedrops were provided free of cost. As many as 500 workers and their family members attended the camp. Counselling sessions were also held on the importance of medical care, balanced diet, nutrition, mother and child care and regarding various chronic diseases.

In his address, Mr Goyal said there was a need for holding such camps for industrial workers for spreading health awareness and emphasised upon the need for organising such activities for improving the health of workers. He appealed to the workers to shun smoking, drinking and chewing tobacco, which led to chronic ailments.

Dr Ramesh, one of the doctors at the camp said there was a need to spread awareness about eye donation. Mr Goyal assured full support and cooperation for organising such camps for the welfare of the workers.

The eighth edition of the Invitation Cricket Cup Tournament being organised by the College of Agriculture here at Punjab Agricultural University will be held from April 26. The matches will be played on Saturdays and Sundays.
Entries close on April 22.
