India at No 3 position in Ceat Rating

New Delhi, April 11
With four consecutive victories at the Sharjah quadrangular tournament, Pakistan have moved past the West Indies into the fourth spot, in the Ceat International Team Ratings. Australia still hold the top spot, followed by South Africa at No 2 and India at No 3 position.

The race is also hotting up for the Ceat International Cricketer of the Year award, as only four points separate the top three players. With Rahul Dravid not playing in the Dhaka Tournament and Gayle missing out on the first Test against the Aussies, the field is wide open for the most coveted award of the eight-year-old Ceat Ratings.

Youngsters stun Sonnet, annex SAIL title

New Delhi, April 11
A dynamic knock of 58, off 83 balls with six fours, by Mrinal Saini helped Youngsters Club stun Sonnet Club by three runs in a thrilling final match of the 13th SAIL Trophy Cricket Tournament at the Mohan Meakins ground, Mohan Nagar. Youngsters received a cash prize of Rs 35,000 while Sonnet collected Rs 25,000. Mrinal Saini was named the man of the match.

Sonnet Club skipper Devendra Sharma won the toss and put Youngsters Club into bat. Youngsters scored 205 in 40 overs, thanks to the fine knock of Mrinal, who top-scored.

In reply, Sonnet could make only 202 for 9 in 40 overs. Shikhar Dhawan, who looked like guiding Sonnet to the victory target, scored 68 with three fours. Sunit claimed three wickets for 47 runs for Youngsters. Executive director of SAIL R B Majumdar gave away the prizes.

Rizwan, Gagan star in ONGC victory

An unbeaten 81, off 70 balls, and studded with 14 boundaries, by Uttar Pradesh Ranji Trophy player Rizwan Shamshad and a half century by international Gagan Khoda (51, 1x6, 3x4, 53b) helped Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) beat Rajdhani Sports by six wickets and entered the quarter-final of the 13th All-India Om Nath Sood Memorial Cricket Tournament at the Khalsa College ground. ONGC won the toss and elected to field. Rajdhani Sports were restricted to 225 for 7 in 40 overs, and ONGC raced to victory for the loss of four wickets, in 31.3 overs. Rizwan Shamshed was presented the Pepsi man of the match award by chief guest Raj Kumar Sodhi.

Scores: Rajdhani Sports: 225 for 7 in 40 overs (Pramod Bhatti 48, Padamjeet Sehrawat 43, Ravi Yadav 31, Ravi Sehgal 3 for 42, Rajiv Rathore 2 for 35).

ONGC: 226 for 4 in 31.3 overs (Rizwan Shamshad 81 not out, Gagan Khoda 51, Sandeep Sharma 44, Joginder Sharma 3 for 50).

Sant Ram shines

A dashing 62 with three fours and four sixes by man of the match Sant Ram helped HDFC Bank defeat Sapient Corporation by 43 runs and entered the final of the second Turf Sports Management Cricket Tournament at the Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce ground, Pitampura. HDFC will take on Richa Exports in the final on Sunday, April 13, at the Modern School ground, Barakhamba Road.

Scores: HDFC Bank: 162 for 9 in 25 overs (Sant Ram 62, Muskan Singh 28, Neelesh Walwatkar 4 for 7, Rohit Chawla 3 for 26). 

Sapient Corporation: 119 all out in 22.2 overs (Rajat Mathur 36, Rohit Chawla 22, Girish Sharma 2 for 30, Sukhdev Muni 2 for 22, Harsh Gupta 2 for 9).

ICICI Bank move up

ICICI Bank defeated Aviva by seven wickets in the Reebok Cricket Tournament. Scores: Aviva: 163 for 6 in 25 overs (Nirlipt Singh 80, 56b, 4x10, 6x1; Ankush Bhanot 26, 38b, 4x2; Vishal Talwar 3 for 34, Sunil Gulati 2 for 25). 

ICICI Bank: 167 for 3 in 24.4 overs (Vikas Prashad 77 n o, 51b, 4x11; Rajat Marwah 52, 62b, 4x7; Mohit Kaushal 1 for 34). Vikas Prasad was named the man of the match.

Young Friends win

Young Friends defeated R P Academy by three runs in the first Dr Hedgewar Cup Under-15 Cricket Tournament at the RSKP ground. Jagrit received the man of the match award.

Scores: Young Friends: 171 for 6 in 40 overs (Jagrit Anand 55, Tarun Sharma 44, Prabhat Yadav 3 for 27).

Kanpur Academy beat A R Gymkhana

Dashing knocks by Chetan Singh and Aditya Kumar helped Kanpur Cricket Academy beat A R Gymkhana by 60 runs in the first All-India Ghaziabad Mahanagar Cricket Academy Under-14 Tournament at the Nehru Stadium, Ghaziabad. 

Scores: Kanpur Academy: 231 for 7 in 40 overs (Chetan Singh 44, Aditya Kumar 41, Ashish Tiwari 33). 

A R Gymkhana: 171 all out in 38.4 overs (A Goel 29, Anuj Kumar 24, Ashish Tiwari 3 for 24).

Virender Bisht deadly

A devastating bowling spell of 5 for 22 by Virender Bisht helped Sadar Bazar Youth Club beat Sunheri Cricket Club by 52 runs in a Group A League match of the Rajiv Gandhi Smriti NDCA Lague at the Siri Fort Sports Complex ground. S B Youth have now collected eight points from two matches.

Scores: S B Youth Club: 171 all out in 35 overs (Ajay Saini 40, Surinder Singh 23, Keshav Saini 19, Yogesh Bhardwaj 5 for 29).

Gyan Bharti beat Mont Fort

Gyan Bharti South Delhi Academy defeated Mont Fort Academy by 132 runs in a league match of the second Rajdhani Cup Cricket Tournament at the Najafgarh Sports Club ground.

Scores: Gyan Bharti: 213 for 8 in 35 overs (Brijesh Obrai 41, Amardeep 35) 

Mont Fort: 81 all out in 20.4 overs.

Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) defeated Raghuvir Willowers by two wickets in an A-II Division Super League match of the DDCA League at the Central Secretariat ground.

Scores: Raghuvir Willowers: 148 all out in 36.3 overs (Tajesh Anand 40 n o, Rahul Yadav 30, Bhuvan Chand 2 for 20, Sandeep Kumar 2 for 27). 

DTC: 149 for 8 in 37.5 overs (Mahesh Sharma 30, Sandeep Kumar 25 n o, Hemant Bansal 3 for 35).

Super Star beat Chandni Chowk by one wicket in a B Division Super League match at the RSC ground.
