Sonnet sail into SAIL Trophy final

Sonnet played to a planned script with Iresh Saxena producing a memorable bowling spell as they crushed Golden Hawks by eight wickets to sail into the final of the 13th SAIL Trophy Cricket Tournament at the Mohan Meakins ground, Mohan Nagar.

Sonnet will take on Youngsters in the final on Friday. Golden Hawks won the toss and opted to bat. They were tossed out for 127 in 35.4 overs with left-arm spinner Iresh Saxena producing a deadly spell of 3 for 25 off 7.4 overs. Saurav Virmani provided able support by claiming two wickets for 23 runs. Golden Hawks, at one point, struggled at 32 for 3, but a solid 58-run fourth-wicket partnership between Abhinav Bali and Sonu Vaid helped them recover, but still could not go beyond the danger level. Sonnet knocked in the required runs for victory for the loss of just two wickets.

Scores: Golden Hawks: 127 all out in 35.4 overs (Sonu Vaid 51, 4x4, 1x6; Abhinav Bali 21, 2x4; Iresh Saxena 3 for 25, Saurav Virmani 2 for 23, Utkarsh 1 for 26, Chetan Nanda 1 for 15).

Raman, Manish shine in South Delhi’s victory

Dashing batting performances by Raman Ghai (83, 1x6, 8x4, 84b) and Manish Chawla (55, 3x4, 77b) enabled South Delhi Colts beat Delhi Development Authority (DDA) by 54 runs and entered the final of the 13th Om Nath Sood Memorial Cricket Tournament at the Khalsa College ground on Thursday.

South Delhi Colts won the toss and elected to bat. Thanks to the electrifying batting performances of Raman Ghai and Manish Chawla, who put on 139 runs for the opening wicket, South Delhi Colts were able to post 211 for 7 in 40 overs.

And then they succeeded in bundling out DDA for 157 in 35 overs, due to the deadly bowling spells of Sanjay Saini, Sant Ram and Amanjeet.

Friday’s fixture: ONGC vs Rajdhani Sports.

Naman stars

A fine unbeaten knock of 86 by Naman Khanna and an unbeaten 43 by Vidur Sethi, who added 138 runs for the fifth wicket, helped Gyan Bharti South Delhi Academy defeat Aryavrat Sports Club by six wickets in the first Dr Hedgewar Cup Under-15 Cricket Tournament at the RSKP ground. Naman Khanna was adjudged the Man of the Match.

Scores: Aryavrat Club: 173 for 9 in 40 overs (Nilesh Aggarwal 60, Abhay Kumar 55, Manik Vadhwa 2 for 19, TCA Jayant 2 for 30).

Gyan Bharti Academy: 174 for 4 in 38.3 overs (Naman Khanna 86 n o, Vidur Sethi 43, Akhil Goel 2 for 34, Abhay Kumar 2 for 34).

Delphi beat Hewlett

Delphi Automotive defeated Hewlett Packard by 22 runs in a league match of the Reebok Cup Cricket Tournament.

Karan Rai hits ton for Modern School

An electrifying century by Karan Rai and a devastating bowling spell of 6 for 41 by Jaspreet Singh helped Modern School, Barakhamba Road defeat A R Gymkhana by 153 runs in the first All-India Ghaziabad Mahanagar Cricket Academy Under-14 Cricket Tournament at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Ghaziabad.

Karan Rai received the man of the match award. Batting first, Modern School made 261 for 2 in 40 overs. In the limited over match, the cameo by Karan Rai and the fiery spell form Jaspreet Singh help Modern School to put up a mamoth total. Karan Rai hammered some splendid boundaries.

In reply, A R Gymkhana scored 108 all out in 17.2 overs.

Scores: Modern School: 261 for 2 in 40 overs (Karan Rai 113, Jagriti Anand 62 n o, Manan Sharma 24).

A fine century by Sagar Bhargava (110, 15x4), a brilliant 98 off 60 balls by Vikram and deadly bowling of 5 for 15 by Krishan Shokeen helped Ganga School beat Cambridge Foundation School by 72 runs in the Pankaj Jain Memorial Under-13 Cricket Tournament at the Bal Bharti School ground, Pitampura.
Sagar Bhargava was named the man of the match.

Scores: Ganga School: 260 for 5 in 30 overs (Sagar Bhargva 110, Vikram 98, Rishav 2 for 19).

Cambridge Foundation School: 188 all out in 24.5 overs (Rishav 91, Krishan 5 for 15, Vikram 2 for 19).

PMG beat Patel Nagar

A fine knock of 82 by Jagdev Chauhan and deadly bowling by Rajeev Rana (4 for 27) helped Professional Management Group (PMG) beat Patel Nagar by 61 runs in a DDCA A-I Division Super League match at the RSC ground.

Scores: PMG: 197 in 32.4 overs (Jagdev Chauhan 82, Tushar Kumar 31, Aniti Kumar 3 for 21, Sandeep Dahiya 3 for 24).

Patel Nagar: 136 all out in 30.3 overs (Sandeep Dahiya 40, Rajeev Rana 4 for 27).

Vijay Kumar deadly

Deadly bowling by Vijay Kumar (4 for 18) and an unbeaten knock of 56 by Ravinder Rawat helped All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) beat G M Academy by eight wickets in the second Rajdhani Cup Cricket Tournament at the Najafgarh Sports Club ground.

Batting first, G M Academy hammered 101 all out in 29 overs. In reply, AIIMS achieved the target within 16 overs, sparing 2 wickets.
