Parents’ Day with a difference Chandigarh, April 7 Speaking on the occasion, Dr R.P. Bajpai, Director Central Scientific Instruments Organisation, who was the chief guest, emphasised upon the role of parents in the upbringing of the children. Talking about the transformation that is taking place in today’s society, he said the relationship between parents and children had degraded as youngsters, in their race towards modernity, were forgetting their duties and responsibility. The college Principal, Dr Satinder Dhillon, was of the view that prospective teachers had the responsibility to imbibe and transmit good values and traditions in students. |
Reunion of old students Chandigarh, April 7 Mandip Singh Bajwa, secretary of the Old Boys Society, said senior-most alumni present was Rana Upindra Singh from the royal family of Dholpur who had passed out from the college in 1946. AN oil-rich country, Angola is located on the south west coast of Africa. To its east lies Zambia and to its north are the Democratic Republic of Congo and Congo. To its south lies South Africa. Covering an area of 1,246,700 square kilometers, Angola has four major rivers flowing through it. These are Cunene, Cuanza, Congo and Cuando. Its highest point, Serra Moco rises 2,610 meters above sea level. Natural resources include diamonds, oil, gold and iron. With a literacy rate of 43 per cent, the vast majority of the population is christian. Angola has been in a state of continuous civil war since 1975, when it obtained independence from Portugal. For many years it was a key Cold War arena, with NATO and Soviet Union supporting rival factions in their conflict against each other. The arable land, totalling about 3 million hectares, is just 2 per cent of its territory. Principal agricultural products include coffee, corn, cotton, sisal, sugar, tobacco and bananas, while major industrial output includes oil, diamonds, tobacco products, textiles, cement, processed food and sugar. Angola’s major trading partners are France, Japan, Brazil, CIS Republics, Portugal, Cuba and the US. It imports bulk iron, steel, metals, textiles and clothing, while it exports crude oil, coffee, diamonds, refined oil, fish products, iron ore, timber and corn. With Its gross national income is about 4 billion dollars. |
