Mass copying gives a new lease of Sonepat, March 15 Moreover, looking at the sudden spurt in the demand for guidebooks for the ongoing ten plus two examination of the Haryana Board, the booksellers have reportedly started stocking similar materials for the matriculation and middle classes examinations, which are scheduled to commence from April 1. These guides and help books are a “major hit” with the students because they not only provide solved questions, but it is easy for those facilitating “cheating” to pass on to the examinees inside the examination halls. Mr Tulshi Dass of Deva Ram Pustak Bhandar in Gohana said that he had sold examination material for around Rs 2,000 daily during the ongoing ten plus two examination. He said this examination season has proved to be the “best season” for him. Ishwar Singh of Jindal Pustak Bhandar confirmed that the guidebooks were in greater demand than textbooks and “we have not seen such sale in the past years”. Often, the students had to return empty handed as the required material was found sold out, he added. Similarly, the owner of Mukesh Book Depot on Meham Road said, “the entire stock of guidebooks had unprecedented sale this year. It was beyond our expectation”. A number of owners of book depots in Sonepat town also expressed the same view and were optimistic that this trend would continue during the matriculation and middle classes examination. “Anticipating heavy demand for these study materials in the board examinations, we have already placed bulk orders well in advance, so that it could be made available to the students much before the examination,” said a bookseller of the town. |
