Double Deckor Club lift cricket trophy Ludhiana, March 9 Elected to bat first, after winning the toss, the Sports Club were shot out for 125 runs in 21.5 overs. The main contributions came from Harbhajan Kala (22), Baldev (14) and Bhuvnesh (13). The Double Deckor Club bowlers conceded 32 extras. Richa and Varun were the main wicket takers for the Double Deckor Club, who claimed four and three wickets, respectively, while Lovely grabbed two wickets and Manu scalped one victim. The Double Deckor Club achieved the target in 16 overs after losing just one wicket. Ballu remained unconquered at 70. His innings was studded with nine fours and two sixes. Harish scored 27 runs while Jassi was not out on 10. The winners received a cash prize of Rs 5,100 while the losing finalists got a cash prize of Rs 3,100. Mr Harchand Singh Barsat, Political Secretary, Chief Minister, Punjab, gave away prizes to the winners. Mr Surinder Dawar, MLA, Mr Kala Navkar Jain, MC Councillor, and Mr Kala Hans, president, Dr B R Ambedkar Youth Federation, were also present on the occasion. Cricket tourney:
The two teams comprised under graduate students of the DMCH and the CMCH. DMCH captain Inderpal won the toss and opted to bat first. They were all out for 132 after 22 overs. Inderpal top scored with 33 runs, followed by Satish Bansal (27), Vikram (19), Gurpreet Singh Ubee (16). For CMCH XI, Gautam excelled with the ball, capturing four wickets for 22 runs. Jiji Thomas and Jatin took three and two wickets, respectively. The CMCH team achieved the total in 23.2 overs losing seven wickets. Their skipper, Ajay Masih, scored 35 runs. Other notable scorers were Ripul (20), Navendru (11), Jijji Thomas (14), Neol (11) and Vipin (12). For DMCH XI Inder Pal took three wickets for 17 runs and Vikram grabbed two for 33 runs. Dr S.C. Ahuja, Principal, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, inaugurated the match. Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina, president, Sports Council, DMCH, was also present there. Dr Sanjiv Uppal gave away prizes to winners. Ajay Masih of CMCH XI was adjudged the man of the match.
