Jalandhar
college on a goal-rush New Delhi, February 12 Amarjeet Singh opened Jalandhar’s goal-glut when he converted a penalty corner in the fifth minute. He converted three more penalty corners to account for the seventh, tenth and 11th goals. In between, Yadwinder Singh scored a field goal in the eighth minute to make it 2-0, Harmanpreet accounted for the third and fourth goals, the last coming off a penalty corner and Navpreet Singh struck in the fifth goal to complete the first half scoring. On resumption, Ravinder Singh, Harmeet Singh, Ravi Pal and Roop Singh scored the sixth, eighth, ninth and 12th goals respectively. Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar also notched up a big victory when they routed SGGS College, Chandigarh 5-1. Kulbir Singh blasted in the first and second goals while Satwinder Singh scored the third goal to give the Jalandhar College a 3-0 lead at half time. Immediately after resumption, Gaurav Tokhi converted a penalty corner to pull off a consolation goal. But the Jalandhar team added two more goals through Harsh Dhir and Harpreet Singh respectively. In the third match, Faculty of Social Sciences, Jamia Milia Islamia (Delhi) trounced Municipal College, Rourkela 5-2. The match had begun on an even note as after Deepak Kumar put the Delhi team ahead in the eighth minute, Pradipta Guru scored the equaliser for Rourkela in the 14th minute. Sanjeet Kumar converted a penalty corner to regain the lead for Jamia, which was consolidated by him three minutes after resumption. Jitender Saroha scored the fourth goal while Parbhakar Singh completed the tally in the 61st minute. Sushil Aind got the second goal for the Rourkela college. |
A-G Haryana down Punjab,
to meet Delhi in final New Delhi, February 12 Rajesh Sharma slotted in the match-winner with a rising shot from the left flank in the 28th minute. A-G Haryana will meet Director-General of Audit, Central Revenues (Delhi), in the final on Thursday at 2 pm. Both Haryana and Delhi have qualified for the Inter-Zone Tournament. The tourney will be held in Chandigarh in March. Delhi had beaten, A-G Uttar Pradesh (Allahabad) 4-0. Rishi Kapoor, Sameer Jung, Naresh Mann and Hitender Singh Rawat scored the goals for Delhi, who led by 2-0 at half time. |
Southern, ICF and Eastern in semis New Delhi, February 12 Southern Railway beat Eastern Railway while ICF got the better of Central Railway. Eastern Railway rolled past Northern Railway.
