PAU school third in state science exhibition

Ludhiana, February 12
Students of Government Senior Secondary Model School of Punjab Agricultural University have won three prizes in the 31st state-level science exhibition organised recently by the State Council of Education and Research Training at Anandpur Sahib.

The team of Priya Soni, Sukhwinder Singh, Manu Gupta, Jagpreet Kaur and Sandeep Kumar, and their guides, Ms Gurcharan Kaur Kochhar and Ms Gurvinder Kaur, displayed a model on the theme ‘Reuse of Greeting Cards for Environment Protection’ and this model won the first prize in the state.

Sandeep Singh and Amit Kumar, class XII students of the school, under the guidance of their teachers, Mr Sandeep Singha and Mr Amit Kumar, presented a model on the theme ‘Controlling Pollution’ and bagged the second prize. Ms Kusum Lata, science teacher, participated in the extempore contest and won the second prize.

The school won the third position in the state. Ms Gurdeep Kaur, Principal of the school, and Mr Varinder Kumar, District Science Supervisor, have congratulated the winning students and teachers.

Punjab judokas felicitated

Ludhiana, February 12
The Punjab Judo Association (PJA) honoured judokas who had won medals in the 32nd National Games at Hyderabad last year. The association organised a function at Guru Ram Dass Academy here today to felicitate them along with their coach and manager who helped the state to with 14 medals.

Mr Partap Singh Bajwa, PWD Minister, gave away the prizes. A watch, a track suit and a kit bag was given to each judoka while a watch at shawl was presented to the coach, Arjuna awardee Narinder Singh, and Surinder Singh, manager of the Punjab judo contingent.

Those honoured include (Gold medal winners): Bhupinder Singh, Yashpal Solanki, Jaipal, Pawan, Parvinder Kaur, Pawandeep Kaur, and Paramjit Kumar.

Silver medal winners: Navjot Channa, Shamsher Singh, Priyanka Sharma, Sandeep Kaur.

Bronze medal winners: Ashwani Kumar, Namrata, Harpreet Kaur.
