The Counsellors of India and Pakistan in each other’s High Commissions would be functioning from tomorrow as Acting High Commissioners, though it depended on the political and diplomatic chemistry between the two countries to appoint regular incumbents for the key posts.

Hurriyat’s Delhi office closed

The Hurriyat Conference’s Delhi office was forced to close down today following the arrest of two of its leaders for allegedly receiving and channelising funds to support terrorist activities in the Kashmir valley.

In a dramatic twist to the cricket World Cup opener, West Indies shocked hosts South Africa by three runs to make a winning start in the tournament here today. Set to score 279 runs for victory, South Africa could manage only 275 for nine in 49 overs.

Muslim Law Board opposes govt move on Ayodhya
New Delhi, February 9
The All-India Muslim Personal Law Board today decided to oppose the Centre’s move to get vacated the Supreme Court stay on religious activity at the undisputed land in Ayodhya, but the BJP shrugged it off by maintaining that the board had “no stake” in the matter.

4 Pakistan soldiers killed
Jammu, February 9
Four Pakistani soldiers were killed and two of their bunkers destroyed by the Indian Army after Pakistani troops opened unprovoked heavy shelling in Mendhar sector of Poonch district this evening, defence sources said.
