Cops foil busjack bid, spate of robberies in North Delhi
New Delhi, February 7
A police control room van today foiled a bus hijack bid with the arrest of two persons at Peeragarhi Chowk. The suspects were identified as Sonu and Raju. The police said that five youths armed with knives boarded a ring service bus (Mudrika) at Keshav Puram bus stand and took positions at various points in the moving vehicle.

Two killed as vehicles stack up on GT Road
Panipat, February 7
Two persons were killed and 11 others injured, three of them seriously, when about a dozen vehicles rammed into each other near the Panipat turn on the GT Road here due to dense fog early in the morning.

Bank officials booked on court orders

Rewari, February 7

Following the orders of Mrs Bimlesh Tanwar, Chief Judicial Magistrate, the city police have registered two cases of cheating, forgery, criminal intimidation and criminal conspiracy under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 506 and 120-B of the IPC against Ram Singh Saini, the manager of the Primary Land Development Bank (Land Mortgage Bank)in 1998, Ram Phal, the then land evaluation officer of the bank, Sulbash Chand, proprietor of Nice Irrigation Equipment Company, and Rajpal alias Neelam, resident of Jadra village near here and a close relation of the complainants.

The Anti-Corruption Branch of the Delhi Government today arrested head constable Raj Singh for allegedly demanding and accepting Rs 5000 from a transporter, Himmat Singh, to favour him in an accident case. The case was investigated by the head constable.

Chowkidar foils bank heist
Sonepat, February 7
An attempt to loot the Bank of Rajasthan and Thakur Transport Company was foiled by an alert chowkidar, Satbir Singh, at the Sikka Colony here on Thursday night. According to a report, the chowkidar is reported to have grappled with the miscreants and sustained serious injuries as he was assaulted by iron chains.

The Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch on Thursday claimed to have arrested a self-styled director of a company, Rajan Films, from Lajpat Nagar who had allegedly duped lakhs of rupees from unemployed youths on the pretext of providing them good roles in films.

Even as the final verdict on whether the annual festival of Hindu College will be organised or not still being awaited, the college authorities are contemplating the possibilities of turning the event into an intra-college one.

MDU likely to introduce M Pharma

Three-day pulse polio drive in Sonepat
Sonepat, February 7
The Health Department will launch a three-day pulse polio campaign beginning from February 9 in the district. According to a report, this is another bid by the authorities of the Health Department to make Sonepat district free of polio. The authorities have geared up its machinery to achieve the aim.

Indian Air Force downed Hindustan Club with a 2-0 victory to lift the Delhi Soccer Association-SAIL Senior Division Soccer League title at the Ambedkar Stadium on Friday. Striker Kalyan Pal, the highest goal-scorer in the league, scored both the goals in the second half.
