Adviser apprised of ongoing projects

Chandigarh, January 25
Details of major ongoing and pending projects of the Chandigarh Administration have been submitted for perusal to Mr Virendra Singh, Adviser, UT Administrator.

The Adviser had sought details of all projects in order to study what more needs to be done. He had also sought a detailed note on budgetary allocations and spending for this year.

The cut off date set by him is December 31 when the third quarter of the financial year closed. Mr Virendra Singh had also sought an update on tax collections by way of revenue receipts from sales tax and other local taxes.

Among the major projects submitted to him are: the ongoing construction of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH); Information Technology Park in Kishangarh; and botanical gardens, near Panjab University. On the engineering side, the details of the 66-kv high tension ring linking all substations; the upcoming substations in Sectors 47 and 56 and various power purchase agreements.

Also submitted to the Adviser were details like upgradation of Punjab Engineering College and upgradation of Chandigarh Polytechnic.

Various matters which require direct interaction with the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the controlling ministry of Chandigarh, have also been submitted to him.
