Mangal goes gaga over new documentary Ludhiana, January 22 He said after he had completed Khalsa, he had promised that he would make a documentary connected with the Sikhs every year. He says that when he was making the film, he had asked many devotees if they had seen all the activities of the temple and hardly any one done so. That motivated him to capture ‘a day in the Golden Temple’. He said,” I am happy that I have kept up my promise. We had screened Khalsa free-of-cost and it had met with an overwhelming response. Similarly, we will screen this free-of-cost in schools, colleges and gurdwaras. But since I do not want any conflicts, I screened the documentary in eight gurdwaras of Chandigarh from January 10 for a week. I had asked for suggestion from the priests and intellectuals and the response was good. I am going to Mumbai and would incorporate those suggestions and then the documentary would be ready for release by the end of March.” He said that he has not decided whether he would release the documentary first in Muktsar or Ludhiana. He further said that he would show this documentary in UK, Canada with sub-titles in English. He is making another thought-provoking documentary titled ‘The Message’. It is based on his interviews with the illegal immigrants, deported people, their struggles, their hardships. He says,” through this film, I want to send out a message that life abroad is a virtual hell when you go there illegally. Since Punjabis are lured by the charms of the West, I want to project the trials and tribulations of those who go there. |
