R R Gym enter Ajit Singh cricket semis

Former Delhi Ranji Trophy player Sandeep Angurala cracked a rapidfire 57, off just 29 balls, studded with four sixes and six fours, to help Rohtak Road Gymkhana defeat Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce by nine wickets and entered the semi-final of the seventh Sahibzada Ajit Singh Cricket Tournament, organised by Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, at its ground in Pitampura.

R R Gymkhana will take on Super Star Club in the semi-final. Sandeep Angurala was adjudged the Man of the Match.

Scores: Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce: 110 all out in 31.5 overs (Udit Kumar 21, Rajiv Arora 19, Jitesh Gogia 14, Neeraj Chawla 3 for 10, Chetan Sharma 2 for 21, Rajan Gupta 1 for 22, Pargat Singh 1 for 21, Sandeep Angurala 1 for 18).

PBL defeat Criswim Academy

Subodh scored a stroke-filled 46 to help PBL defeat Criswim Academy by 73 runs in the Inter-Corporate Cricket Championship at the Jasola Sports Complex ground.

Scores: PBL: 171 for 3 (A Khanna 34, Ravinder 47, Nitin 33 n o, Subodh 46 n o, Deepak Bajaj 1 for 48).

Criswim Academy: 98 for 2 (Anil Narula 35 n o, Deepak Bajaj 20, Israr 19). Subodh was named the Man of the Match.

In another match, Business Standard defeated Criswim Academy by 68 runs.

Scores: Business Standard: 136 for 3 (Mukesh Yadav 63, Chander Mohan 48, Karan Chopra 1 for 24).

Criswim Academy: 68 all out (Bharat Bhushan 22, Rakesh Sharma 2 for 20, Sanjay 2 for 3). Mukesh Yadav was given the Man of the Match award.

Central Railway record big victory

Central Railway trounced Railway Board 13-0, after leading by 4-0 at half time, in a Group A match of the PNB-All India Railway Men’s Hockey Tournament at the Shivaji Stadium on Monday. The tournament was inaugurated by Northern Railway general manager R K Singh.

Central Railway began the goal-rush in the third minute when Mehraj-ud-Din opened the account. He also scored the seventh goal, off a penalty stroke and the ninth goal while the other marksmen were Jansher Khan, Shakir Khan, who scored five goals, including a hattrick, Ravi Savita and Tabrej S Khan.

In a Group D match, DLW drew 2-2 with Integral Coach Factory. Lucian Khakah scored the first and second goals for DLW while Hayath made it 1-1 for ICF and Dinakaran got the second equalising goal (2-2).

Northern Railway and Central Railway were locked in a goalless tie in a Group A women’s match. In a Group A men’s tie, Northern Railway whipped RDSO 20-0. Sandeep scored the opening goal in the seventh minute and also added the 12th goal. Other scorers were Rajiv Mishra (4), Rajiv Panchal (2), Brejnev Singh (4), Raju (5), Ajinder Singh, Navsher Singh and Bikramjit Singh.

Eashwar hits ton in Teri’s win

A dashing century knock of 145 by K P Eashwar and a devastating medium-pace bowling by R K Pachauri (4 for 12) enabled hosts Teri beat CR Infotech by 155 runs in the second league match of the tenth Teri Cup Cricket Tournament at the Teri Oval.

K P Eashwar, who slammed his second consecutive century, was named the Man of the Match. Eashwar and Mahesh put on 183 runs for the opening wicket to give Teri a flying start.

Scores: Teri: 268 for 2 in 25 overs (K P Eashwar 145 n o, 13x4, 6x6, 92b; Mahesh 68, 10x4, 57b).

CR Infotech: 113 for 7 wickets in 25 overs (Rajiv Sudan 70 n o, 7x4, 2x6; R K Pachauri 4 for 12).

NIIT beat Hunter Douglus

A fine half century by Rajesh Vershney (54, 8x4), all-round performance by Ashish (21 and 2 for 2) and deadly bowling by Ritesh (3 for 29) helped NIIT beat Hunter Douglus by six wickets in the Champions Trophy Cricket Tournament at the Venkateshwara College ground, Daula Kuan.

Scores: Hunter Douglus: 149 for 8 in 25 overs (Naveen 71, Atul 27, Ritesh 3 for 29, Ashish 2 for 2).

NIIT: 150 for 4 in 20 overs (Rajesh 54, Hitesh 34, Ashish 21, Kapil 18, Rajkumar 19, Sandeep 2 for 29).

Pusa Youngsters win

Pusa Youngsters defeated United India by five wickets in an A-I Division match at the Yamuna Sports Complex ground.

Scores: United India: 247 for 9 in 40 overs (Shiv Kumar 60, Sunil Chaudhary 56, Mukesh Sharma 33, Atul Brown 4 for 37).

Pusa Youngsters: 248 for 5 in 36.3 overs (Rajesh Brown 70, Rashid Mohd 60 n o, Anuj Kapoor 57, Sunil Chaudhary 4 for 30).

Delhi Development Authority (DDA) defeated Ircon Club by nine wickets in an A-II Division match at the Yamuna Sports Complex ground.

Meerut University lift Rohinton Baria title

Deadly bowling (6 for 41), including a hattrick by left arm spinner Gaourav Tyagi (senior) and fine knock of 54 by Shikhar Bisnoi helped host Choudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, defeated West Zone Champion Gujarat University, Ahmedabad in the final of the All India Inter-Varsity Cricket Championship and clinched the Rohinton Baria Trophy at Victoria Park Stadium in Meerut.

Electing to bat, Ahemedabad University were in sound position 206 for 7 but in its 27th over left arm spinner Gaourav Tyagi (Senior) took hattrick to finish the Ahemedabad innings at 206 in 80 overs. Captain Bhavik Thakar top scorer for 69. And for Meerut University, Gaourav Tyagi (Senior) took 6 wickets in his and off spinner Nazar Khan took 3 wickets.

Scores: Gujarat University, Ahemedabad (1st innings) 206 all out in 80 overs (Bhavik Thakar 69, Niraj Shah 33, Akash Christain 25, Gaurav Tyagi (Senior) 6/41. Nazar Khan 3/92, Pankaj Sharma 1/13).

Air Force crush Moghals

Indian Air Force, New Delhi, registered a facile 3-0 victory against Moghals in a Pool A match of the Delhi Soccer Association (DSA)-SAIL Super League match at the Ambedkar Stadium on Monday. Air Force led by 2-0 at the interval.

Air Force forged ahead in the 17th minute when stopper Sanat Kar headed home a flag kick. Kalyan Pal increased the lead in the 32nd minute when he cut in from the left flank, rolled the ball towards the goalmouth and it went in via a defender’s leg.

In the second half, Mohgals custodian Vinay Singh brought off a couple of splendid saves, but still could not prevent the Airmen from adding their third goal, which was netted by R Thapriyal.

With one point from three matches, Moghals chances of qualifying for the semi-final have suffered futher setback. Air Force have earned three points from two matches.

Tuesday’s fixtures: New Delhi Heroes vs Goans Club (3 pm)— Ambedkar Stadium.

Patna enter cricket semis

Tarun Kumar scored an unbeaten 78 to help Patna defeat Bengal by eight wickets and entered the semi-final of the All-India State Bank of India Inter-Circle Cricket Tournament at the Hindu College ground.

Scores: Bengal: 156 for 6 in 25 overs (Arindam Sarkar 73 n o, Saurabh Dutta 30, Ashok Malhotra 26, Sanjeev Kumar 2 for 17). Patna: 157 for 2 in 24.2 overs (Tarun Kumar 78 n o, Sunil Kumar 36 n o, Madan Ghosh 2 for 16).

Mumbai defeated Bhopal by eight wickets at the Khalsa College ground.

Scores: Bhopal: 81 all out in 18.3 (Rajeev Dua 36, Vikrant Gavate 5 for 2, Sunil Godge 2 for 7). Mumbai: 85 for 2 in 17.4 overs (Madan Kumar 29 n o, Sudhir Patel 22 n o).
