Dy CM reviews khadi board functioning
Our Correspondent

Jammu, January 4
The Deputy Chief Minister, Mr Mangat Ram Sharma, today expressed dissatisfaction over poor investments by the Khadi and Village Industries Commissioner in Jammu and Kashmir.

Reviewing the working of the Jammu and Kashmir Khadi Village Industries Board (KVIB) at a meeting here, the Deputy Chief Minister lamented that the board was not giving due share to the state for promoting a strong rural economic spirit and for generating rural employment programmes. He said the commission had allocated only Rs 1.79 crore to the J&K (KVIB) during the current year against the demand of Rs 7 crore. Of the total allocation, only a sum of Rs 89.50 lakh have been released so far.

Mr Sharma pleaded that substantial amount be allocated to Jammu and Kashmir in view of its backwardness and geographical conditions. He said he would take up this issue with the Chairman of the commission at the earliest so that liberal assistance is provided to the KVIB for undertaking various schemes to promote the khadi and village industries in the state.
