Ashwini Kumar gets Olympic Order New Delhi, December 23 Ashwini Kumar was the IOC member in India since 1973 and became its honorary member in 2000. This year only three personalities had been chosen for the award. Besides Ashwini Kumar, French President Jaques Chirac and Flor Isava-Fonseca of Venezuela got the honour. Ashwini Kumar was born on December 27, 1920 at Jalandhar in Punjab and did his post-graduation from Lahore in History. He is proficient in many languages and authored a book on music. He was the president of the Indian Hockey Federation for 16 years and was also former secretary general of the Indian Olympics Association. As director-general of the Border Security Force, Ashwani Kumar had played a prominent role in nurturing many a great hockey talent of the country. |

Salwan School beat Modern Salwan Boys School (Rajinder Nagar) beat Modern School (Barakhamba Road) by 71 runs to win the title in the HT Pace Milo Young Cricket Tournament on Monday. Scores: Salwan Boys: 201 for 9 in 35 overs (Shikhar Dhawan 69, Sandeep Yadav 54, Parvesh Chikara 20 n o, Karan Harit 4 for 40, Aviral 4 for 29). Modern School: 130 for 8 in 35 overs (Deepak Rajput 36, Vartik Tihara 24, Narendra Singh 3 for 27, Vinay 3 for 13). Aswat Kumar of Modern School was adjudged the best wicket-keeper while Narender Singh of Salwan Boys was named the best all-rounder of the tournament. Aviral of Modern School was given the best bowler award while Sandeep Yadav of Salwan Boys bagged the best batsman award.

Delhi Police garner full points New Delhi, December 23 In an evenly-fought match, Delhi Police knocked in the match-winner in the 29th minute through inside-right Jagyaram Boro, who dodged past rival custodian Anil Dhaiya to shoot the ball home. The Group B match between Garhwal Heroes and Moonlight was cancelled as the former expressed their inability to field a full team due to injury to some of their key players.
