MC suspends JE for negligence
Our Correspondent

Ludhiana, December 23
The civic administration has sought the approval of the Punjab Government for suspension of Mr Rattan Chand, a junior engineer in the Operations and Maintenance Wing, on the charges of negligence and undue delay in the disposal of a complaint about water supply and sewerage services.

The spot decision was taken by the MC Commissioner, Mr S.K. Sharma, during a session of ‘khula manch’ in Zone D when a resident brought to his notice that his complaint about water supply and sewerage problem in the locality was not attended to, in spite of repeated reminders. The Commissioner said dereliction of duty would not be tolerated and cautioned erring employees to prepare themselves to face disciplinary action.

In all, 18 complaints were received in the ‘khula manch’. Out of these, individual complaints about civic services were entrusted to officers concerned for time-bound disposal. There were some other demands, related to development works, which needed policy decisions. The demands were recorded and Mr Sharma assured residents that these would be taken up and included in the area specific development plans, being formulated for different city localities on the basis of their actual requirement of civic amenities and infrastructure.
