Jaundice claims one life

Doraha, December 6
A death due to jaundice has been reported at Doraha, Sarabjit Kaur (28) was admitted to DMC, Ludhiana, on October 22. On October 23, a baby girl was born to her which too was suffering from jaundice. She was saved by blood transfusion but Sarabjit Kaur died in the hospital on Wednesday.

According to Dr Soni, in charge, Civil Dispensary, Doraha, the patient had hepatitis-E.

Two cops suspended

Khanna, December 6
An Assistant Sub Inspector and a Head Constable posted with the CIA staff have been suspended on the charge of the negligence of duty. Both have been charged with failure to arrest theft accused during the raid, by not taking sufficient force with them and not handing over the accused to the Sadar Police station.

It may be mentioned here that a police party led by ASI Bant Singh conducted a raid at Rahaun village on Sunday to nab a theft accused Maghar Singh. The police party was attacked by bricks by certain family members and neighbours. An ASI, Bant Singh, was injured in the attack and accused Maghar Singh was rescued. However, the police arrested three persons, including two women, for attacking the police party. Seven persons were booked for attacking cops at Sadar Police station.

The SSP, Mr Param Jit Singh Sarao, ordered to suspend ASI Bant Singh and a Head Constable accompanying him.
